Howdy folks.
Rafe references some new software for Nokia 97 via SW update. My N97 is with T-Mobile and I don't appear to have this icon. Any ideas on how to install "SW update" on the phone?

SW Update should already be on your phone. Maybe T-Mobile removed it...
I believe its in applications and its a green SW icon with an arrow.
I can confirm that T-Mobile have indeed removed "sw update" from the phone. Pretty unbelievable that T-Mobile deny me the opportunity to update my phone via this method. No wonder so many of you are debranding your phones.

Indeed. Even attempting to access the app through Help fails, so it's either been removed or deactivated by T-Mobile. They also refused to put me through to second-line technical support, instead giving me the Nokia Technical Support service number (0845 045 5555) to call.
Anyone else on T-Mobile have this app missing?
Someone should come out with a nokia file you can download in the Ovi store. I bought the NAM version and its all there but i also get the bugs and the camera lens issue.

the t-mobile branded 5800 also has this problem, but...
i found on my g/f's 5800 that if you install Handy Taskman, you can use "options" -> "lookup and start" and search for "sw" it's still there to load.
I'm on uk t-mobile from mobilephonesdirect and have none of these issues...
SWupdate is in applications and works just fine. Mind you I did do a hard reset shortly after I got it which deleted Spore 😞.
Check your serial number - is it the same as the UK sim free one (which is what I have) - if it is then it may be worth trying a hard reset after backing up to see whether it appears?

Already tried this idea. Twice in fact. The phone isn't Sim-free either, it was purchased direct from T-Mobile. They have since confirmed on the phone that they do not support SW Update, and this was why it was removed.
Can't help but laugh really.

The t-mobile branded (actual t-mobile) phones will be different from the generic ones offered from the likes of Expansys and MobilePhonesDirect.
