My N97 has just started doing this. The text on the main menu keeps reverting to large size. I have to go to settings, change it to large and then back to small to fix it. Any ideas?ideas?ideas?ideas?
Text size changes to large
Hmm I just posted that on my N97. Now posting from a computer. I don't know how the repeated text got there, but when I went to edit the post on the N97, any time I touched the screen to change the cursor location, instead it entered the text before the cursor again (I think it was 'E'😉. I had to quit the browser as it wouldnt let me move the cursor. Weird.
Trying to diagnose this problem...it is either hardware or software.
On the hardware side...have you dropped the phone?
On the software side...what firmware revision are you running?
Have you installed any "suspect" applications (unsigned freeware from a questionable source?) recently?
I have found a couple of b-a-d applications that seem to "mess up" the N97 OS causing some strange behavior. So far they seem to have been corrected by uninstalling the applications and then rebooting the N97.
Thanks for your reply. To be honest my post was in a hurry so I didn't add much detail!
Hardware: should be fine, no damage that I know of.
Software: Updated to v11 using JAF a few days ago, however the problem only started last night. I have installed a few new apps so I will have to play around and determine the source of the problem. The ones I can remember I installed last night were "FolderPlay" and "Screensnap". I suspect "FolderPlay" might be the culprit, since it's a very beta software.
I've seen this happen before. The text on the icons in the main menu change to large, but when I go into say Applications and then go back, I can see them change from large to small again.
I had the issue with v10 quite a lot, but it happens a lot less with v11.
Last night I thought I was hallucinating when I saw the root folder icons lose their text (that is the icon picture was there but no text under it!).
Browsing to the Applications Folder and then browsing back restored it, and I have not been able to repeat the error.
I suspect that the S60 5th Ed. "Desktop" (as it was called in S80) caches this information and that somehow the cache got cleared by some operation.
I still want to know why my touchscreen goes unresponsive for 3-5 seconds every two minutes or so.
