When manual flashing with JAF: what does it do, and is it important? When I updated my N97 to v11 using JAF, I tried to load the APE variant file, but the green light kept going grey. I assumed the file wasn't included in the flash then.
If it is important, can I flash using the APE variant file only once I'm on v11?

Im pretty sure when I did mine I had an APE Variant selected :/
Where did you get your F/W from?
The methods I've read said to select APE variant also.
I downloaded the FW using Navifirm.
When I choose the use.ini option it selected the right files for me. I cant remember WHAT the status of the APE light was but im pretty sure I remember my log saying it wrote one.
