I originally thought the TIMED PROFILE feature which I dearly loved on my Nokia 9300 was omitted in the N97 by the Nokia programmers. I used this feature often when I go into meetings so that I don't have to remember to change my profile after the meeting is over.
But then I saw a screen shot showing a time profile on another N97 forum/blog (yes...Dave, I also read other blogs. AAS is the *BEST* of all that I've found!).
You would have thought that when you tap on the PROFILE box on the Home Screen widget or from the Power button you would have been offered a choice of TIMED PROFILE in either of those places, but NO....
The Nokia programmers hid this function DEEP in the bowels of the SETTINGS function.
To get there...
Settings->Profiles->(select desired profile by single-tapping)->Options->Timed->Enter time
Settings->Profiles->(DOUBLE-tap profile)->Timed->Enter time
[edited 7/18/09 to add alternate path identified by BanziBarn in later post]
That's a lot more steps than I'd like.
So....if you put a shortcut to Profiles on one of the Home Screen shortcut bars...it will take you straight to the Profiles setting page where you can get there in fewer steps.
I wish, though that they'd picked a better icon for the Profiles shortcut. It has a big magenta musical note on it similar to the Music Player icon so you could get them confused.
