Content to online mode missing from home screen

Normally on the N97 'home screen' there should be an option to set "content to online mode" or "offline mode". However, after updating the firmwareon my N97 to v11, this option has disappeared. I tried reinstalling the firmware, and it's still missing. Does anyone have any idea what happened, and how I can fix it?

Thanks.

I've only noticed this option disappear when I don't have any content on my home screen that requires a constant connection, like the facebook widget.

Try adding the facebook widget, or something similar, to your home screen and see if it comes back.

I added facebook and it worked, thanks for the advice. Weird how an RSS feed alone won't allow the setting to be changed? If I add facebook, set content to online, then remove facebook, should the RSS feeds still update?

I think they update anyway. I have the email widget on my homescreen and for half a day I took the facebook one off when I had little to no signal cos the phone kept complaining it couldnt get online, but every so often my email would update anyway.

I can only guess that anything that relies on a program that's built into the OS (RSS feeds need Web, and Email needs Messaging etc) doesn't require being told on the home screen whether they should be offline or online, because these are controlled by these other programs anyway.

Trying to state this simpler:

Home Screen Online/Offline: affects only Facebook and Accuweather.

Email and RSS Feeds have their own update timer(s) configured internally so they are unaffected by the online/offline home screen setting.

Also for completeness, when you use the Offline Profile ("Flight Mode"😉 ---NOTHING gets updated.

Thanks for the replies. I did not know you could configure the auto updates for each individual RSS feed, hence why I thought it was controlled from the homescreen!
