Hmmm... Presumably the javascript engine isn't properly localised but the API is... Maybe if I replace the / with - first it might cope...
New version if you fancy having a look. I'm assuming the date parser was failing...

I definitely fancy!!! I really appreciate your effort and when it works, I will definitely use it, as I really miss something that shows my next appointments on the home screen! So keep up the good work!
However, I downloaded again, reinstalled, but unfortunately the result is still the same. It works fine when the phone is switched to English, but shows very old items with the NaN indications when switched to Dutch...
Reinstalled - still a blank screen on main screen, and the widget is no longer in the 'add content' menu on my homescreen!
This is crazy... The least reliable api ever! *sigh*
Well, I'm stumped. Sometimes I get a black widget for about 30 seconds, but it eventually loads.
Sometimes it loads instantly. And it doesn't load at all for you!
How long are you waiting for it? What happens if you load the main app?
Hi Dave,
First of all great concept for a widget! It Does help me!
Not to add to your problems but.....i've got a small one.
Within my calendar i have a Memo on 01/08/09 and meeting on 15/08/09 and 20/08/2009 however the widget is picking them up as 01/07/09, 15/07/09 and 20/07/09 - Note the 07.
But it does pick up the next meeting on 15/08/2009. So its as if the Widget has gone 1 month behind?
Not sure. Just thought i'd feedback.
Thanks for it though! Makes life easier!

My bad. I always forget that in JavaScript land january is month 0. Should be fixed now. Same URL...

Just downloaded the revamped one. Its now showing All Anniversaries right back to the year they initially started. I.E Girlfriends Birthday is showing right back till the year she was born.
So now its now working 😞
Thanks
oops. my bad. left the debug setting on (which shows all appointments)...
gimme a sec...
ok. should only show future stuff now. sorry 😞
Works fine for me 😊 Thx mate! 😉
Give me a tip where can i learn something about creating a widgets!
Works fine! Thanks for info on creating!
Trying to uninstall the widget, but I get 'file corrupted'. The widget is not present in the 'installed applications' list in the application manager. Hmm?
Edit: fixed after a restart. Will try and reinstall.
Uninstalled the widget.
Restarted phone.
Installed the widget.
Restarted phone.
Loaded the main program - white screen as before, with "open calendar" in the corner.
Added the widget to homescreen - showed "loading content" for a few seconds, now just a completely white box.
Is it possible the previous installations left behind some files or settings that are corrupting the current installation, or is it just buggy for some reason on my phone?
After the wild compatability differences from different instances of the same handset I can only come to the conclusion the the widget API is flaky at best.
I'm having trouble with contacts on another widget I'm working on. Apparently some contacts will cause the whole widget to crash. No way of knowing which they are though. Nightmare.
I may very well give up altogether!
I read this thread for the first time last night. Cracking idea, sure it's gonna be a hit. I, for one, am very tempted to now try my hand at creating a widget.
Anyway, it may be coincidence, but it seems to me the "white box" issues occured after AllowNetworkAccess was taken out. Could it be related?
I have downloaded and installed the widget and it just seemed to hang. When I clicked the widget to run the full app it too hung and couldn't be closed by any means other than rebooting the phone.
^ Could be worth uploading different versions for us to test?

Might be worth a try - although it works for something so i think it's going to me something more frustrating...

Dave, i love this as an application, i love seeing everything that needs to be done over the next few days all there for me in a list - fab. 😊
However the widget is a bit mad on mine, for instance i have 10 things on my calendar todo list over the next few weeks and on the widget it shows me each one individually and numbered too but the time lapse between each one is a millisecond and sometimes it jumps from no 1 to no 4 and then off to no 7 and back to no 2.
It's really cool though and i will keep it as an application on my phone definitely, but i might have to take it off my widgets :frown:
thanks
actually i set it as a link from my main screen - all is good 😊
Glad it works for you. Just a shame the api is so unreliable...
And it can't even handle timed reloads properly - hence the seemingly random cycling speed for some people...
Well, mostly, mine cycles reliably, but I have seen it miss a few items and be a little less smooth on the odd ocassion - mostly when I'm connected to Fring it seems.
Anyway, I just wanted to say I've just deleted an entry for the forthcoming week - it was there originally to remind me my colleague is on holiday next week.
After doing this and exiting the calendar, I watched the system scroll to item 5 and then go blank for a while, as it discovered something in its item list was no longer present. Didn't take long though, and its now scrolling through the new "top 5" list.
Regards
Neil
Great work Dave, good to see apps like this that fill the gaps!
Obviously if anybody can think of any features to add I'll be glad to hear of em
😉
Sorry to dig up such an old thread but I was wondering if anyone found an answer to the blank white screen problem which is also happening on my phone.
I've tried installing the nerwork version, the no network version but just get the same result.
Would really like to get this to work as I can't stand the original calendar widget.
"Next appointment is on the xx-xx-xx" grrr tell me what it is then FFS
*EDIT* Forgot to mention I'm running v11 euro firmware on a T mobile debranded handset
Cheers
Can I just ask how many items you have in your calendar at the moment. When mine dropped below 5 then I had ocassional periods of white screen. This just seems to be the applet expecting at least 5 entries. Of course, with the sometimes random scrolling, you might get (non-existant) item 5 selected multiple times leading to extended white screen.
Should have mentioned this ages ago, but if there are less than five entries, perhaps it should just cycle 1 through 4 or 1 through 3.
Regards
Neil
I've got 12 entries in the coming week.
The widget never gets past loading content on the home screen and when I open it it's just a blank screen.
I've granted access to the phone's info which would seem the obvious problem if it's not seeing any of my data.
I love what you do for N97 users Dave and I am a regular visitor to your (excellent) page which in my opinion is far superior to the OVI store; however I just don't get the point of this app: I already have a widget on my homescreen that shows the next appointments, to dos, meetings, etc.; it came with the phone and works just fine.
Why should I need this too?
glad you like the site... All feedback appreciated... If anybody else finds any freeware, feel free to add it!
As far as i know the built in widget only shows what and when. My widget shows what, when & where...
