I checked SW Updater the other day and ver. 11 is finally showing!!
I tried to do it OTA by pressing *#0000# but it keeps saying that no new updates are found.
So is my only option to do it via PC? ( I may just take it to the Nokia store if it's easier)
If so, could someone please provide a step by step guide as to how I should do it. Never done this before, and reading some of the threads on here, don't want to risk bricking my phone.
I don't have Nokia PC suite though... didn't get the PC-CD with the phone 😞
Another route is MENU > SETTINGS > PHONE > PHONE MGMT > DEVICE UPDATES > OPTIONS > CHECK FOR UPDATES. Though, this probably won't do anything that *#0000# didn't.
You can download PC Suite / Nokia Software Updater from the Nokia website. Probably a better option than using a bundled disc anyway as you know you'll be getting the latest version.
Download the Nokia Software Updater.
Run the software.
Connect the phone.
Update.
Et voila!

I might just take it to the Nokia store tonight or tommorow after work as I work in Bond Street.
Any ideas how long it would take if I were to do it in store?
you dont need pc suite as such - just nokia software update.
though maybe you need to install it all - its available online to install.

not sure what the differences between pc suite/ovi suite and n-series suite are
other than graphics on splash screens.
i had to dig out a net book as im all mac based - to do the update
i dont know if nokia store will do it
it takes less than 5 mins - but thats assuming they have someone there and then to do the update - i suspect it would more be leave it with us and come back in X hours.
Yes I just called the Nokia Store, weren't helpful at all.
Told me to go on their website to download PC suite, and if I wanted them to do it for me I'd have to first book the phone in (earliest next week) and leave my phone with them.
Anyways, I'm currently downloading PC suite onto my laptop but am experiencing issues with installing some of the applications:
For example when installing Nokia System Utilities and Content Copier it "Failed because it was an invalid file".
Is there any way to just download Nokia Software Updater without the rest??

As jamessmith01 said, i don't think you need to download the pc suite for this, just go to nokia website and download the nokia software installer.
When i updated a few days ago using my laptop i don't think i had to use the pc suite at all for this.

Its always better you install Nokia PC suite 7.1.30.9 or Nokia OVI Suite 1.1 version, please do take backup of your phone, before you update your phone's firmware... Its recommended 😊

Why, will the update erase eveything that's currently on my phone? ie. have bought a few games for n-gage, will they still be on there after update?
How about my vids and pics?

In theory, no.
However, just be sure, belt and braces (suspenders), take a Back-up as well on PC Suite. Just in case. 😊
