During the last couple of days, I've been experiencing delays with regards to receiving text messages.
Recieved one at 11.20pm even though it was sent at 9.30pm.
Today I received a text at 4.15pmwhen it was sent at 2.25pm.
Anyone experienced this? what may be the cause of this as I have full bar reception and haven't switched off the phone at all.
It's so annoying and I'm wondering if I have any more texts that have yet to be delivered... luckily the delayed texts were'ntof much importance.
I've yet to update firmware to version 11, will this fix the bug??
I have a number of timed, daily SMS messages (weather, horoscope, etc) sent to my phone.
Since moving from my Nokia 9300 to the N97 I have noticed some of them coming now at "odd" times, often hours late and some not-at-all (lottery numbers).
I do know from history that sometimes the carriers get inundated with spam SMS and that they then put a hold on their systems to try and clear it out.
My wife got a "smishing" spam last week--a phoney bank alert asking to call a toll free number to confirm "unusual account activity". They ask you for your bank account information, etc. and then basically defraud you by identity theft.
Other times, the carriers just have hiccups in their systems which lose or sometimes duplicate messages.
Who knows?
The only spam texts I get are from T-Mobile themselves.
Never experienced any delays in receiving sms on my other phones, so assumed it was the N97.
But from what you're saying it's network issues?
What I am saying is that you cannot rule out network issues.
It *IS* possible that with all the N97 is doing, it might not be ready-to-accept an incoming SMS at a particular moment becaue it is doing something else.
In that case, the SMS server would put the message back into a delay send queue for retrying later.
So far there are still times that my N97 touchscreen will be non-responsive for 5-8 seconds at a time which running programs, so it is not unreasonable to assume that message reception during that time might be ignored.
I've noticed it too. I get delays sometimes.
