n-gage update lost installed apps

Tried earlier tonight to play an ngage game on my n85, but kept getting an error (e-20 i think). After checking free memory and another game, i checked to see if it had been updated.

The checker came back saying there was indeed an update needed. So I go ahead an perform the update.

When the upgrade completes, my screen is playing up, the theme isnt complete and missing some icons on the deeper menu folders (eg theme change). So I restart the phone, including taking the battery out for a full power off.

On power up screen is better, but theme is still missing, try to reset it and all the installed themes are corrupt. I also notice then that nearly all the apps I have installed have been lost from the menu. Additionally, ngage has lost the installed games I had.

When I got home a quick google find I now have to download the game via the PC to re-install it keeping the license key.

I am now ploughing through re-installing the other missing apps.

Trouble is I still am not sure what went wrong. Other than the ngage loosing its games I cannot find anything about it also wiping out other apps.

Does anyone have any advice - other than back up before installing ngage updates.
