Numbers top right hand corner when in Captured Photos or Videos

Hi everyone

i just noticed that when i go into captured photos or videos there is a strange box that appears in the top right had corner with some numbers in it, and these change

they are in the format NN.NN (N= digit)

maybe these have been there from the begining but i've only just noticed them

can anyone shed some light on this? does this happen on your N97?

Nope, there're not on mine either. Do you have screensnap installed? If so, take a screenshot and we'll have a look.

Thanks, is there some free software to take screenshots?

Ive also noticed that when i'm typing with keyboard and i press the bottom right blue button the box reappears, this time says "iFnKeyState = EFnKeyNext"

I have the same problem, and it's kinda upsetting to have your shiny new phone have weird boxes appear in the corner which kinda ruin the experience. I bought the N97 two days ago, and had the boxes appear only yesterday.

After struggling with this problem and a wifi related problem, I attempted a Hard reset, slightly disheartened that my first experiences with a nokia phone had been frustrating. To my surprise, and glee, I found both problems disappeared and the phone functioned correctly.However, tonight, the dreaded boxes have reappeared. As spirit said, in the video and photo modes, the boxes show changing numbers in the form XX.XX, and when you have the keypad out and press either the backspace or the blue arrow bottom on the bottom-right, Strange text appears in the box.

I'd very much appreciate it if anyone has any ideas or help. Incidentally, my software version is 10.0.012, rather that the newer 11.x version. I've been having trouble trying to update due to blocked ports on the router, and as I don't have access to the router's settings, I'm not currently able to update. Though does anybody think updating would fix this?

sounds like me to debugging info.

Development Software will have a number of extra displays for information to show what's going on.

Sounds like for some reason this is being turned on.

i thought this may have been the case, but show GPS is off. Plus the box also appears when using certain keys on the QWERTY.

I suspect unplugged is right, its like the phone is displaying info that should be running in the background

any ideas why/how this could be turned on?

i did a hard reset at the weekend and it still didn't clear it

Might be worth doing a reinstall via PC Suite to see if that solves the problem.

Yeah, it's definately debug info. I tried maps yesterday and it was giving all sorts of messages in the box related to the content being loaded etc. Though I have absolutely no idea how it was turned on in the first place, hmm..

I was just reading through the news thread about the new V30 firmware for the 5800 (a friend of mine has one of those) and some people there have reported the same issue.

Also, someone in that thread also suggested a way to solve the problem. Seeing as the OS's are the same between the 5800 and N97, maybe it'll help you too.

G'day,

I had the same problem and decided to uninstall recent apps till it went away.

The app called Midomi (you sing and it tells you the song) was the cause. Try removing it and see what happens.

Also if you used your qwerty keyboard another symptom was iFnKeyBlah popping up in the same spot.

Thanks everyone

I lost my rag a little yesterday, starting getting all sorts of error messages, KERN-EXEC and also Menu Error (-1), as well as the stupid info box mentioned here

so did a hard reset, this did not solve problem

then i uninstalled ALL my apps from my mass memory (aside from those i paid for) and reinstalled them from OVi store (and various other sources)

result? all sorted it seems, no more errors and the info box has gone.

I did have that Midomi app installed, and by some freak coincidence that was the ONLY app i didn't reinstall last night, thought i would do it today!

so it may well be the cause

Does anyone know where i can get the spirit level app again? its no longer in the app store (you can search for it and it finds it, but then when you click on it message comes up saying resource does not exist)

i like that stupid app.

thanks again
