Windows 98 SE might be the solution
i have xp, works with me... connection is erratic though, i got disconnected when transferring large files, that's y i bought a usb card reader.
AJ96, try and decrease the FIFO buffers for your serial port a bit.
Go to the device manager and open advanced settings for the port. Then move the two sliders one step to the right, reducing the buffer size. That will give you a more stable connection at the expense of a very slight increase in PC CPU power needed.
If the buffer is full, the PC needs to empty it before the next character arrives. By setting the buffer to max size, the interupt is not triggered before the buffer is full. If you move the slider down, you still have room for one or two characters before the buffer is full and you loose data.

thats good advice Michael, I could've used that before, will it work with a virtual port also? I have built in infrared in my laptop and before I can connect my 9210i to my PC I had to install the IrComm Virtual port so I can tell PC Suite to recognize the IR as a serial port... However I dont connect my phone to my PC using infrared now, I do it using my MMC Reader...
I need the advice though since I connect my gf's 7650 to my PC using the Infrared and still I have the same problem(get disconnected after a while) can u please give me a step by step tutorial... pweeze... thanks :black:
there's no port for infrared in my laptop, I saw the FIFO thing you mentioned, but its for COM1 and COM3 only, no COM for the infrared, I guess I need to install the virtual IR Port...
I have NO FIFO buffer settings for my virtual port (COM6, IR), but, after I changed the settings for COM1, I have not had any problems.
My cable connection to the 9210i was *very* unstable until I changed the buffers. Now both IR and serial com is stable.
Since there is only one or two 16550 chips - with the buffers in hardware - on a typical PC, the virtual ports *may* use these - and the settings for hardware, but I really don't know..

I`ll give it a try. It might work...
It acts more stranger now....
The 9210 restarts itself when sync started. What can it be?
