I would agree that I rarely use it - but - having briefly used the on-screen keyboard with Putty I can say that if I have to do anything further with Putty I will be folding out the keyboard.

I use it mainly with the web browser - much easier for filling out forms, especially being able to use the d-pad to move around the fields.
plus it looks coooool...
How can you rarely use the keyboard? I use it all the time for:
I use my QWERTY keyboard quite a bit.
I prefer it for text messaging, emailing and to type in my passwords which are strong & l-o-n-g (with letters numbers and symbols).
I really miss my old Nokia 9300 keyboard because it had Ctrl and Tab keys which if you're a power user you get a lot of mileage from (cut, paste, copy, ctrl-tab to change folder tabs, etc.).
I use the qwerty all the time, it would be nice though if it had a touch qwerty like the 5800, sometimes i just feel too lazy to open it out..
I'm another that hasn't used the keyboard as much as I'd expected.
I think partly that's cos I'm enjoying using the phone in candybar form...feels good in the hand and I like using the touchscreen to type sms texts (maybe I should have got a 5800 LOL!)
Also, there doesn't seem to be a big need for it for me... the only time I do pull it out is mainly for emails but being near a laptop most of the day there's no real need for the phone.
Also, all main websites (including this) are saved as bookmarks so no need to type, and as for log-ins they're all saved, which is convenient.
One thing that annoys me with the keyboard is, many a times I have tried to press the blue arrow, but with quite a large thumb end up pressing "SYM" as well which brings up the symbol menu :icon13:😡
I use it all the time, even for sending short text messgaes and the more I use it, the more I rely on it.
Totally agree woth londoner, the Sym button annoys the hell outta me as I usually press it by mistake when trying to get to the Fn button.
Otherwise, after 6 wks or so of N97 ownership, I've gotten used to the keyboard and the oddly placed space bar. Didn't think I would but there you go.
Last day here n Jeddah, back to Blighty tomorrow so will be interesting to see how the phone performs when I put my Orange PAYG sim in. Just thinking about going online...
i've really tried over the last couple of days to use the keyboard .... but only because you all shamed me for not using it.
i have come to the conclusion i have a super fast texting thumb, you should see it go !! soooo fast it's a blur  - it's so much slower for me having to do the two finger/two thumb proper typing jobby.
Dave i promise you though, should i ever be on a train or any other crowded place i will flick out the keyboard to look super cool (though i'd probably get mugged 😮)
Yes, definitely get your keyboard out whenever you can!
I did this morning when I was taking down my neighbour's phone number. She went "Ooh, check out the fancy phone(!)" 😃
