How to sync with Entourage

Seeing as how Nokia still have to come up with an iSync plug in can anyone suggest a reasonable way that I can sync my contacts and calendar between my Mac and N97?

At the moment I have to sync my N96 and then perform a phone switch.

Thanks,

John

In the past this problem occurred and sometimes you could change a text string to get the plug-in working. The N80 was an example of this, adding the N80 to one of the plug-ins worked until a proper version appeared.

I have forgotten how I did it, however there are two locations for these files and I think you need to modify the files in your home directory.

Go to the home directory > Library > Phones > Nokia N96

Make a backup of this folder before you do anything.

Look at the .plist files with TextEdit and change every instance of N96 with N97.

You will need to restart after you have saved the changes.

If this does not work, the next location is Main level of the hard drive > Library > PhonePlugins.

Have a look in there and see what you can find. Again make a backup of the folder you are going to modify before you do so.

If that works super. If not there is one other thing I can think of. Every USB device has a unique USB vendor ID code look in the System Profiler with the N96 connected and check the code, see if this code is replicated in any of the .plist files.

If so then find the code for your N97 and change the older N96 code.

I have no other suggestions.

There used to be a third party bit of software, can't remember the full and proper name of it, something like Go Between.

Basically, it synced your Mac's Entourage with Symbian phones, at that time I was using a Sony Ericsson P900, so that was a few years ago, Found it on the Handango website, where they sell a shed loads of ( * useful / useless software, * delete where appropriate ) .

Lately though, prior to the N97, I was running the N95 and Nokia did do an iSync plug in for that,so fingers croseed, one for the N97 shouldn't be too far away?
