Hi All,
I'm new to these forums so firstly hello everyone, the reason I've joined up is to quiz you all about my N95 8Gb, its a ex Vodafone phone and has the latest firmware on (31.0.......). I'm now on O2 and deciding whether its worth de branding and also how I'd go about it as I already have the latest firmware?
If I de brand it, can I reapply the firmware so it gets rid off all the Vodafone rubbish if so how do I force a firmware update?
Thanks all.

There's a sticky thread at the top of the N95 forum which discusses de-branding in detail. Not worth repeating here.
However, please note your 2 year warranty is voided by de-branding.
The sticky answers none of my question!

I wasn't planning no posting again here, but your questions are answered all over this section of the forum. Do a search, and don't be so lazy! You change the product code, then reinstall your current firmware.
I'd suggest a better method, but suffice to suggest you are lacking in the integrity required to complete even the above basic instructions.

The rubbish that Voda puts on there is not a problem at all - you can move the shortcuts to /dev/null and you will not know that you have a Vodafone branded phone.
The question is: how badly do you need VOIP?
Vodafone (and Orange) firmware has disabled that potentially useful feature and so if you needed to use it then there would be some benefit in de-branding.
But if you don't need VOIP then there's little need to de-brand.
If you phone is in warranty then I would strongly advise you against de-branding even if you do want VOIP.
Vodafone's actions are probably unlawful in terms of failing to clarify end user expectations about limited use and especially in terms of the "unlocking" contract (paid for unlocking does not free the branded phone to take on un-branded VOIP firmware).
But best not to wreck your warranty though.
If it's out of warranty and you want to risk a failed firmware upgrade then what the hell.
