Maps misery

I was using the Maps on my Nokia 5800XM. It appeared to lock up, so I depowered anr repowered my phone. I tried using Maps again, and got a "System Error" message.

My 5800XM had already had a firmware update (to v21.0.025), but I realised that I could update Nokia Maps to OVI Maps 3.0. So I downloaded Nokia Maps Updater and installed the new Maps version on my phone. I am still getting "System Error" when I start Maps up.

I used Nokia Map Loader to remove the old maps from my 5800, but now I cannot get Maps started, or load new maps...

So it's misery....

Anyone got any ideas, please?

Well the new 3.0 maps is a HUGE improvement, so definitely use that version. But it seems like you may have to do a factory reset to your phone and start over. Something got corrupted. You remember anything that might have caused this? Before the hard reset you could try to reinstall maps as a last ditch effort.

I did eventually do a hard reset and loaded a backup taken about a fortnight ago. This got me going again - I have now loaded Maps 3.0 and am happy with my 5800XM again!! 😊
