9210i - Not switching on

5 replies · 2,320 views · Started 02 August 2009

My friend has a 9210i Communicator that hasn't switched on for quite a while and he wants to get it working, but it just won't switch on. Tried charging the battery (we initially thought it was a battery problem) but it showed no signs of charge and still wouldn't turn on, we took it to a phone store that had batteries for the 9210i and the guy there put it in and charged it for about 20 mins and it still wouldn't turn on, so we have no idea why it won't turn on.

Has anybody else had problems like this? Or does anybody know what it might be?

EDIT: Just phoned up Nokia Store about an in-store repair centre and they said they would send it off to a repair centre. However, my friend doesn't have warranty for the 9210i. Would they still send it off? Or would he have to pay for it to be repaired?

There must be a hardware problem , like corrosion . Also the connector between the keyboard part and the screen part ( battery - screen ) is a sensitive cable . Mine for instance is broken : no spirit , even when loading no battery bar !

Yeah, that's what we thought. It is an old phone, and it's not been used for about 5 years. We're going to take it to a few shops on Tottenham Court Road (great place for electronics) and see if anyone can diagnose a problem there. If not, we'll just take it to the Nokia Store and they'll send it off to the repair centre. That's if it ends up cheaper to fix it than buy a new one.

Thanks for your help 😉.
