Ewan, The Fringe and The Nokia N97

It's August and it's the time of year when Ewan Spence disappears into the caverns of Edinburgh to report for his Fringe podcast - and we do like to load him up with something he hasn't seen before and ask him to road test it properly. This year it's the Nokia N97 and embedded below is the first of his reports. And yes, it includes an unboxing - of sorts! Comments welcome, as usual, along with any questions for the bearded one!

Read on in the full article.

Nice report, quick question are you using the V10 or V11 firmware? That may well make or break your trip.

Ewan, good first instalment. After using the N97 for a while, can I ask if the camera on your device has scratches over the plastic that covers the camera lens? This seems to be a recurring problem for many N97 owners. Thanks!

There are many things wrong with s60 5th edition. But the scroll bars are NOT hard to hit with finger. I've used i8910 and the 5800 the only place where a stylus is needed is when trying to hit small links in the web browser. Nokia did the fight thing in not making the device even larger by adding a stylus slot.

Finally, a proper unboxing!

With a thumb nail like his a stylus is the last thing he needs!

Loved the unboxing, very very funny, and i had a lot of fun watching the video, and rolled over the floor when i heard you said that if the stylus were pink and had pucca on it you will look like a 12 year old kid.

Funny, Yet Vey Interesting Video.

Keep up the good work Ewan!

i just installed the new version 30.... update over the air. and now my accelerometer is not working, my multimedia key is not working, and using the send button to send messages does not work, the send button does not answer calls, the end button does not end calls, the send button does not put calls on hold, and everytime i call nokia center care the same girl answers and she keeps telling me to use *#7370# which only deleted my data but did not fix a damn thing!!!! Please Help Me!!!!

I rather enjoyed that and will follow the series....And for the first time, I could actually understand you. Keep up the good work.
