Commercial Video Applications - any in the works ?

You only have to look at any forum for the 7650 and the main thing people seem to want is video software.

We all now know it's possible either from seeing one of the limited releases (Hantro 2.1 & 3.3, Wind, VideoMMS, HipCam, etc etc) or from hearing word of mouth from those that have.

Now, seeing as most of these are meant to be limited to certain regions or operators I'm surprised nobody has released a commercail version yet - the markey must be HUGE amongst 7650 owners.

Something with high quality capture (Hantro 3.3) but without the 100kb limit (HipCam) would just be the "killer app" for those who would rather have a 7650 than a 3650. Record small files to MMS, or longer files to IR or Bluetooth.

Surely somebody must have something in the works and then we could legally BUY (yeah, buy) a copy and upgrade from there etc.

Does anybody know of anything out there like this ?

Carpathian

I agree Carpathian, but there are 2 major issues involved.

First, you need an empty 7650 to record videos of reasonable quality and length. I have a digital still camera which does 10 frames per second, it eats up memory (I have a 128mb card) and doesn't look too good on a PC (although it's OK for relatively static shots).

Secondly, and more importantly, we all know about this, but as a developer would you invest time (= money) to release the killer app, just for it to be cracked after 2 weeks? Unless you want to sell it directly to phone manufacturers or operators, for which you need a very different sales approach, and a bigger risk.

If you like an app, and use it a lot, you should buy it  but that's not the way most people work, it seems

You only have to look at less reputable forums to see what everybody is talking about...

There was some discussion in the past about how to make apps "uncrackable", but that's a game which is difficult to win.

cracked after 2 weeks? Most are cracked after a day. One guy (18plus2) seems to be THE man who can crack any app at the moment. I think the current model of developers selling to big phone companies is working, at least there guarateed to get some bucks for there effort.
I use cracked apps, but if I like the product then I will buy it, the apps that I have bought include seleq ( although I would'nt have done if FExplorer had been around! ) Each to their own, its not exactly tricky to get hold of these cracked apps, but we are a small proportion of the user base of 7650's , the public are more willing to pay for these apps.
