My device has version 0.1.22.103 installed which is all very well but how do I know which version is the latest on Map Loader without deleting all the data from the phone and reloading?
There must be a way. Surely? Maybe.

I find the easiest way is to download OVI Suite 2.0 fom here:-

Then when I connect my N97 and select Tools > Update it tells me if there are any new updates for my phone, including Maps. which I'm on 3.1.
Sorry, I didn't mean the maps application itself; I meant the version of the map data itself which Map Loader has available.
I see whay you're getting at now. You would like to know what version of Map data, the maps themselves, are available.
The latest version of map data is only available, I believe, to those who have downloaded Maps 3.1 to their phone. Apart from that I know of no other way of determining the map data version. Sorry
If Nokia's maps are anything like Tomtom's, they'll be updated every 3 months, and even then there'd only be minor changes. I've had my Tomtom for 6 months now, in a timeframe where theoretically my maps have been succeeded by two newer versions, but yet my maps haven't been wrong (like showing a roundabout where there's now a cross-junction etc).
Personally, I wouldn't worry about it too much and maybe just update your maps roughly every three months or so if you feel the need to have the lastest maps.
