I opened my 9210 this morning and found that left 1/3 of the screen is white. What could have caused this? my best guess is that the ribbon wires that connect the display to the cpu is either cut or loose. any idea how much it would cost to fix it?
thanks
if its a hardware thing then you haveto get it fixed. but thats happened to me too. for me it happens when a program hangs but the phone doesnt. its in the middle of loading and half the screen is white but when i reboot its cool.
I rebootedmore than once, no good.
I won this device from a website in UAE and I am in KSA, I have to send it to them or pay for the repair.
Huh? Here (in the NL) the IMEI code is used to check if the phone is still under Nokia warranty and then the phone is repaired, even without a receipt by any NSC. Now I hope your phone is not that old and would be under warranty, in which case I would simply visit an NSC and let it be repaired
BTW did you try to remove the battery, shortcut the battery contacts (on the phone that is, DO NOT shortcut the battery) and restart the thing?
NTOO
Unfortunately we are considered a third world country so what applies to you does not apply to me. But what is an NSC (Nokia Service Center?). here we have a lot of distributors but not a nokia Inc. presence.
I might pursue this with nokia one time. but I have too many things to worry about talking to a company that does not listen to its customers very well.

Hmm....it sounds like either the cable is damaged or the screen is (1/3rd) dead. For your sake, I hope it's the cable....
Since you seem comfortable opening up your 9210, try purchasing the cable from the service center and changing it yourself. First make sure the cable really is damaged, though....
Knowing some of Nokia's spare parts prices, I'd say it's going to be one of the most expensive cables ($/square cm) you'll ever buy
Good luck!
