Hey friends this is J'z n dis is my first attempt of posting a tread..

I have this E63..
I prefered to using memory card to serve for my messages data..
n nw jus for a month i have been using phone memory..
i need to merge the two messages database..
m really confused how should i go about it..!

The setting in "messaging" is rigid : you can not merge them . You can only choose wheter Device or MemoryCard at a time .
Of coourse there is the possibility to forward the SMS to another Phone , and after changing the setting back to your Phone , but probably the only one being happy is your provider .
The best way to save messages is on your PC/Mac , using Nokia's PC Suite . And from the computer back to your Phone .
Be aware , after a hard Reset or Firmware update , all the messages and other personal data , like Calender and Contacts , on device memory wil be deleted . Except when you saved them or when they are stored on MemoryCard .

Hey thanx buddy..
tht ws gr8 of u..

I do have a back up of messages as in drag n drop format dat i did from nokia pc suite communications to my laptop..

bt these messages cannot be restored into current message inbox..
since its all bussiness data n messages i ws tryin to merge the two..!

It is possible to make Folders in Messaging , named like "Bussiness" or whatever you like . Mark all the wanted messages and store them in the Folder . When I use two phones , it is possible to bluetooth an old message to the other . It comes to Inbox named as "Message" . Store it in the same folder . Now , I know it gets confusing , since it's not possible to rename them , but they are all merged , alas all with the same name "BT Message" .
There is another solution though . When you install DeEdit , after reboot , you will find out , DeEdit's text viewer is taking over the defaults text viewer . When opening the message , it will be automatically be in DeEdit . With Menu > Save as , you can store all your messages in a (predefined) folder , preferably on Memorycard ( E: ) and name them as you wish .
You can find DeEdit (for Symbian 9) at Juriy Bakunin's Website :

I also use his JBakTaskman , a very nice Applications Manager and Griffon2 a very fast (maybe too fast) FileManager . This one you can find when clicking Russian .
P.S. I know : it will take some manual work ....
