Ok
Here is my quick'n'dirty summary about how to deorange your P800.
1. The startup and shutdown logos
a) Go to my-symbian.com and go to the p800 downloads section. You will see a
download for the file manager. Download this and install it to your p800.
b) Go to drive c and copy the two *.mp4 files out of the sysdata directory
either copying them to somewhere else on your p800 or on to your pc.
You will now have the default sony ericsson logo.
2. The Orange logo on the flip cover
Option 1 - Take cotton wool and nail varnish remover and gently rub the
logo. It takes 10 - 15 minutes. You can then use your fingernail to gently
scratch it off. This process takes care and you can scratch the flip whilst
doing it.
Option 2 - Find the phone number for your local SE service centre and phone
them up. I did this and I have 2 coming my direction for 5 + vat in total
13.75. It will take about a week. This way you will have a perfect flip
cover which doesnt smell of nail varnish remover.
Easy as pie.

i did exactly the same with my p800 and pruchased the new flip covers - i didnt want to take the risk of nail varnish on it.
it will do me fine until the mineral grey housing is released from se 8)
just a case of getting unlocked (im not to kean on the pay line rental upfront + 20 from orange)
ive found somone online that does it it for 10 - if have any success ill post here 😉
also if you go to c:/system/data/browser/startpage/
and delete all files in there it will remove the orange logo from and the orange startpage from the default web browser in replace it with a nice se default one 😉
any idea why there are 2 copies of the startup/shutdown mp4's. 1 lot in sysdata and the other in custom\sysdata?
I removed the orange logo from the c:/system/data/browser/startpage/ folder, but i just get a broken link now on my ornage startup.
R u sure this was the right logo
you need to delete the html file thats there aswell i cant remember the name of it but its the only other file in the folder.
How the heck do you just 'select' something in File manager? Every time I try and select one of the MP4's, it opens it in the viewer (and then complains it's too big..)

lol i had the exact same prob - select the icon of the program rather than the filename 😃
rather than delete start.html from the directory, rename it for example start1.html, then when u need to go to the orange homepage, u can always change the name back.
Does anyone else have the problem on orange where after you enter the pin or whatever it comes up with the blue message box saying "Welcome to orange" even when the text box is disabled it still comes up with it, any way to get rid of it? Or am i just being stupid 😉
Yup - to disable it, you remove your Orange SIM, and replace it with one from O2, Vodafone or Teabag-mobile - of course you might also need to get your phone unlocked first too 😃
The message is on the SIM card, that's why i don't have it (i use o2 mostly). Similarly, i think Vodafone have their own cheesy message, and Teabag might too - but O2 certainly don't!
am very glad the flips are available... i tried rubbing for about 30mins with nail varnish remover to no joy.
Now my p800 *does* smell!
i know - i have an orange contract but i hate the orange badge being stamped on MY handset - however i use an 02 sim in my p800 - i got it unlocked localy for 20 but ive seen prices of arround 30 by some places in london - u can also do it for 10 from www.logosunlimited from ur own pc providing u have anet connection but this also requires you to have an appropriate cable that will increase the cost.
the two different bottom plates (flip on and off) cost me 2.50 from my se service center - and it looks alot better 😃 coupled with the fact that i got my p800 (including all the years line rental and 12 months handset insurance) for arround 200 im a happy man
yousaf where did you get your phone from?
orange upgrades gave it 2 me for 75 on any tarrif i want
high speed data tarrif (includes orange care) = 120 line rental for the year
5 for both non orange bottom plates from se service center
total = 200
does anyone know where i can get the orange startup/shutdown mp4s of the sunset from????
installed tracker....now they are gone... and i did quite enjoy them.
😮
All I can say after reading all the 'orange woes' :
It's great to be a Vodafone customer!!!!!
