T-Mobile OTA settings

Recently got the 5800, and would like to update the firmware, but don't fancy wiping it completely, so would like to do it OTA method, however when i go into the Device Settings, and select "Check for updates", it keeps asking for a Server Profile to be setup, but I do not know any settings for this profile.

Have taken a look around, but cannot seem to find them anywhere

I got the same thing, I can't find any way to update the firmware OTA, all I can say to do is back it up on the Nokia software and update the firmware from there. I didn't even back mine up though when I updated the firmware and nothing was wiped, so I doubt anything will even be wiped, but you can backup just to be sure.

Wait until you figure out that T-mobile have disabled the very useful "App Update" within the firmware, denying you the latest updates to things like flash to improve the web browser....

Stupid

In reply to Drift comment, I did not realise that if you did an update via the PC, it would keep all your settings.

I know when I used to do this on my N95 8GB, that it wiped the whole thing, so had to start installing from scratch again.

Am on V 21.0.025 at the mo, but see there is a v30 out now

Easy now my friend you've misread my comments, where in the previous line did I aim any offense at the poster? The "Stupid" comment was in reference to the turnips that are T-mobile and the fact that disable OTA updates.

Actually, they havn't entirely removed it, they've just deleted the shortcut to it.

If you install Handy Taskman, you can start the App. Update by "options -> lookup and start" and search for it.

all new nokia phones have user data preservation so it keeps your phone in the exact same state after the update. many nokia phones have had this for a while now.

ummm his "stupid" comment was clearly directed at tmobile and their policy of disabling the OTA menu, and not the poster. how could you even confuse this in the slightest way? it was obvious.
