Hello all,
Just got my n97 back after a repair from 3. I'm not yet convinced that they actually have done more than upgrade the OS but that's another story. Their customer service stinks.
I restored the backup and everything that was in the phone memory (C😊 seems to have restored OK. However, many of the apps seem to have disappeared. I'm not sure if these are only on mass memory or not. Missing, for example, the email programme (the one you download from Nokia, I'm not sure what it's called but it's the one which DOESN'T work properly with the touch screen.)
It's offering to download various apps that I have already downloaded (N-Gage, Ovi Contacts, Nokia Messaging - is that the one? - and the now famous C: Phone memory)
My mass memory seems intact. All the files are are there and is it reporting 26.3 GB free via file manager.
I cannot of course see where the apps are on the mass memory. Is there anyway that I can? How can I restore these missing apps?
I am, for the moment, NOT, saying yes to software update.
When you are missing Java based apps , try Nokia MidletRestorer . It brings the icons back . The sis(x) Apps which are not istalled yet , you can find in the ApplicationManager . When not installed an app is numbered . Installed Apps are named .
Filemanagers Y-Browser and/or X-Plore show hidden files . Both are free .

Bedankt Japi (I hope I spelt that correctly!)
midlet restorer does not appear under the n97 apps on the nokia site.. Accordingly, I downloaded the version for the N95, which seemed the closest model. I was warned that it was not compatible with my phone but installed anyway. It will not run.
I think you are on the right track though.
I really want to throttle someone, or better yet submit them to chinese water torture 😉
No problem to do some water boarding to a Sonim XP3 , but the Nokia's are not that reliable ...... !
MidletRestorer is a great tool , too bad it's not compliant . It should be updated for S60 v 5 , after all the software events .
The mentioned Filemanagers are updated though .
Your Nederlands is perfect !
