Did v12 change lot of things?

11 replies · 4,213 views · Started 24 August 2009

I have updated my firmware to v12 on N97, and I do not see much difference as compared to the past. Again, here are my issues -

1. The phone is unresponsive or really slow to respond at times. It has issues switching from portrait to landscape mode and vice versa. Is it the slow Symbian OS?
2. Any home screen widget which connects to the Internet directly including facebook and accuweather crash after sometime. I can access them through the applications menu, but tapping on their homescreen widget does not do anything. A temporary solution is to switch the phone off and on. The widgets then work for about an hour or so, but stop responding again after that.
3. Sometimes, I have to slide the side unlock switch twice to actually unlock the phone.
4. The speakerphone is good for hearing, but my voice cracks up when I talk on the speaker. This is what people at the other end of the call tell me.

Anyone found fixes to these problems?

I went through their v12 changelog video. Does not look as if they did any major changes?

Thanks

Most of those issues i have already emailed to the firmware team. As to bugfixes in V12, yes, there were several, but not all of them have been 100% successful, so hopefully, the next lot of bugfixes will improve even more.

Not really.

It did not fix the lens scratching problem.*

Is it me or are Nokia UK taking much longer bringing out the v12 for us uk sim free N97 owners than v11?

I know that, but it seems the time between releasing the EURO1 and UK firmwares is much longer for v12 than it was for v11. Maybe I'm getting a little impatient, I dunno.

I'm still waiting too in the UK. I could debrand, but just don't want to.

Oh and for the spelling, English is from England, its the Americans that spells it all wrong. 😊

Still nothing for UK phones?

version 2 will be here at this rate! Mind you, UK will probably get that about 2 months after everyone else too!

It sucks, but I think they will hopefully be on the ball with v2, surely they can't make it such a big deal and then leave UK SIM-free customers on v11 for months.

No. Because that would never happen would it. Nokia, after all, treat their customers like evevry single one is special....

pfffffffffffft!
