E63 PEAP MSCHAPv2 "No Cert" Sucess

Yes, it seems that this long running problem with Nokia (specifically my E63) on WiFi has been solved with a firmware update (200.21.012), at least for my university's setup (WPA. EAP. PEAP. MSCHAPv2. no certificates). I haven't tested WEP, 802.1x, PEAP, MSCHAPv2 yet (uni has two unsigned, no cert networks).

I wonder if this is widespread in recent updates? I don't have another Nokia with WiFi, so I can't check it out, but I will talk to my uni friends with N95's and the uni's [corporate] phone tester (Nokia and WM handsets were mostly failing due to this issue).

Thank you Nokia, finally! A 9500 I bought new went to ebay after 3 weeks and many phones were not purchased because of this issue (including buying this phone instead of an E71). My N810 still feels crippled 😡.

For those that are interested, WEP 802.1x does work without a personal certificate, but it definitely needed an authentication certificate. In my case I was lucky enough to obtain one, but others may find that this is not possible. There are some instructions out there on how to extract these certificates from XP.
