Ok guys, need some advice/help. i'm heading to USA in a couple of weeks and the hotel i'm staying in has free wifi.
Is there any way i can make free or very cheap calls back to the uk, either to uk landline or mobile?
Thanks!
Ps what is the best way to disable my connnections to internet? I don't want the phone to accidentally start connecting to net using network when i'm trying to connect to hotels wifi!😊

If you have Fring loaded, it does support SIP as well (browse around SIP settings for Voipcheap)
ok, being a fool i need some really simple advice, as i'm flying in 72 hours and need this sorted!
i have downloaded Fring and it has SIP (whatever that means). i signed up to cheapvoip, which is one of the providers within fring SIP.
when i try to make a call using SIP it just rings, but its not actually ringing the phone number (i tried ringing my home phone)
questions - do i need credit on my cheapvoip account to make free calls?
secondly, when making a SIP call using fring, do i just ring the number as per normal through the fring phonebook, or is there like a standard number to call which then asks you enter you want to call?
if anyone has managed to use cheapvoip on the n97 with fring, i really would appreciate some help
thanks:con?
I should imagine you do need some credit for things to work. I'm using Skype via Fring. Purchased some credit, dialled my home phone. It worked. Have called numbers in The States a couple of times.
As to number to use, its best to use the international standard, even if calling a number in your home country.
So if your UK number were 0117 123 1234 you should dial+441171231234 the +44 is the dialling code for the uk, after that you just drop the leading 0 and dial as you would normally.

Thanks for that my friend, i used the international dialling format and it worked, without any credit! You get 300 free mins a week, well worth a look
In order to save data costs , check all the apps that are consuming web data . Disable the automatic launch of these tricky apps . Otherwise you might end up in the "Offline" profile , when you are abroad . However can WiFi stil be used , while Offline ?
