Bloody Nokia!!
Just purchased an N86 (Orange) and the FM transmitter won't work :frown😞says "feature not supported"!!!)
Googled the problem and it seems to be a software bug. Some people suggest switching the standby mode to horizontal and restarting the phone but that didn't work for me.
Seriously Nokia, why not employ some decent software developers!!!
For a major feature like the FM transmitter not to work out of the box is unacceptable in such a high end device.
Worse still I can't even update to a newer firmware and even if I could some people say the problem still persists.
Nokia - please stop this horrendous practice of using the paying public to beta test your shoddy kit!!!!
N86 FM transmitter bug
I was furious at this also, but switching to the horizontal standby theme then turning it off and on does work for me, and it lasts ages before needing to do it again. you can even switch it back to your preferred standby theme after doing it and the FM Transmitter will still work. give it another try.
If that doesn't work, trying taking memory card out and doing it? I've had lots of grief with a faulty 16Gb memory card...
I had the same msg but then found that it works from the Music Player.
Start a tune, then Options, FM Transmitter.
Works nice, good clear sound & the frequency that was preset was a good un.

I was under the impression that the transmitter won't work in every region as well-
