Over on the Nokia discussion forums I had my petetion post deleted

22 replies · 10,460 views · Started 28 August 2009

I got PM'd by a forum mod who said
"I have removed your post. The intention of these boards are for individual users such as yourself to share their opinions and assist each other. These forums are mainly for user-to-user support.

However it is not the place for petition solicitations, which are not permitted on Nokia Support Discussions.

If you wish to discuss your issues directly with Nokia technicians, please use the "Contact us" link at the top of this page for telephone and e-mail contact information. "
So I've put the petition url in my signature instead...

http://discussions.europe.nokia.com/discussions/board/message?board.id=smartphones&thread.id=161072 for more details...

And now when I go to the Nokia discussion forum I get: -

Discussions Main Page > You are not allowed to access this site

Ooh dear!

I wonder if they'd do the same for a "Nokia N97 is the best thing since sliced bread" petition.

Actually... it's worth trying! 😃

I would, but I'm not allowed on there.

Unless I delete my cookies and create a new login with one of my other email addresses...

Hmmm....

One would ask, if they're so sure their phones are the best, what have they got to fear from a petition? What are they hiding? Ah. Fools. Bad bad bad bad PR.

Start silencing critics you begin to lose credibility.

ARE YOU LISTENING NOKIA, START ADDRESSING PEOPLE!

Now you go straight to your room young man without any supper and you are grounded for the next three days until you can learn to play nicely and not say mean things to your friends.... and stop pulling faces! :hmpf:

The Apple discussion boards do the same thing there are often reports of mass thread deletions when a bunch o' users have a problem and before Apple addresses the issue.

Dave,

I think they deleted more than just your petition thread. I've been monitoring some threads over there and it seems like about a month's worth have been deleted.

From what you say, they may have just deleted every thread you've ever posted on, rather than edit out each and every one of your comments -or- where someone else commented on your comments.

UPDATE: I did find some threads where you had commented, so they have not eradicated them all (yet).

The scorched earth policy.

Nokia might be sending some hit men after Dave, still if they are using N97 GPS to find him he will be reasonably safe.

now that's funny....

i best check my n97 for odd noises when i get it back....

anybody know how much an n97 is supposed to weight 😉

Dave is a rebel! You may have to sacrifice yourself for the rest of us, like braveheart, but don't worry, we will think of you when we use our modified camera lens covers!

RIP Dave

anyone fancy writing an obituary?

Here lies the body of our mate Dave,
To the N97 lens he was a slave.
He fought tooth and nail with all of his might,
In the hope that Nokia would put things right.

Although his efforts seemed to be in vain,
To Nokia he became a right royal pain.
He would petition, complain and harass,
Til they returned his phone and it blew off his ---! :reddy:

rofl!

how about an ode ?

there once was a young man called Dave
at times he was ever so brave
he was forthright and true
got a phone that was new
but his lens, he just couldn't save

bum bum

aahh Dave, i hope you don't mind - think about the fact that they wrote songs and odes about Robin Hood too 😃

Woops, sorry folks I ended up writing an email about Dave getting booted off of the nokia forum to The Sun newspaper ...really very sorry about that...😃

oh and sent to The Star aswell...doh

Should send it to BBC's "Watchdog" programme... 😉

Well, I successfully got my account deleted from Nokia discussions after asking 3 times. When I went to check today I spotted this thread full of happy N97 owners that will probably get deleted:

An interesting point in the first post is that the V12 firmware for the N97 has the shortest changelog ever for a Nokia firmware update.

One thing is for certain, Nokia have a LOT of work to do to win back disgruntled N97 users with the now legendary September firmware update.

I've stopped checking with NSU for the v12 update for my phone as i've not heard anything really positive about it and as my v11 is working just fine i figure i will just wait out for an update that becomes highly recommended from people on this forum 😊
