Hello fellow symbian users, returning after years to this forum (back when 6630 was released) and much has changed! Just got back onto the symbian scene with me new N97 after selling my Xperia X1 (what a phone that was). I was wondering whether N97 has capabilities for downloading torrents?
Also how do I get my Wifi to stay on all the time? I turn it on and after some time it turns off. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
Quite curious about your user experiences with the Xperia !
Go to WLAN settings , options go advanced . Set WiFi batterysavings to off . I think that could do the job . Not 100% sure though .

I use SymTorrent. Works really well.

(Nice little plug for davecozens' site, there...)
Will give symtorrent a go 😊 Yeh the X1 was amazing in my opinion and being one of the first full qwerty slide smartphones it took a real gamble. It was really easy to use and you could find apps for it really easy. TomTom 7 also worked on it unlike the N97 which was the best thing I liked about it. It had all the facebook and MSN apps. However symbian feels more cleaner and fresher to use compared to Win Mobile on the X1.
It was really good though, was abit sluggish but you could download RAM apps and it would keep it running smooth. Had it for nearly a year and thought a change back to good old Nokia was in need once I saw the N97. I even sanded the X1 down (had metal frame) and it was chrome :P.
Not 100% happy with the N97 though alot of bugs in the FW and my lens have scratches on it (i've signed the petition) and my loudspeaker is not working either. 😞 Oh and the fact no tom tom plus the silly little space bar, besides that not many issues.
@tramfan . Thanks for your thoughts about the X1 . I am pretty much convinced SE makes quality phones , of course like Nokia and some other Japanese companies like Sharp , etc .
Last year TomTom bought the Mapscompany TeleAtlas . Since the TT application for Symbian is sold under the name Sygic McGuider . You can obtain the app from Teleatlas or from Sygic websites .
