I recently received a Nokia 9210i as a gift which I use for work. My intention is to purchase a se p800 online to us as my recreational phone. I have run in to a few problems which I hope you can assist me with.
I live in the Kingdom of Tonga in the South Pacific. Our currency's exchange rate with almost every foreign currency (except the neighboring Samoa who are even more pitiful than us) is so bad (we are les than $0.40 US, and less than GBP0.30) that to purchase a phone by sending a wire transfer, money order, western union etc. purchased with cash here in my country doubles and often almost triples the cost for me. Hence my only viable form of payment is using my credit card which is issued by a New Zealand bank giving me much more purchasing power. My dilemna is I cannot find ANY online seller that:
a) Accepts direct credit card payment
(No Paypal, Paymate etc. etc. ad nauseam) is not available from my country and Bidpay/Western Union will not accept orders greater than US$700 which is less than the pricing I have been getting for the p800's I have sourced)
b) Ships by international courier such as DHL (not just express post which can take months to get to our part of the world) or even ships internationally at all (most online stores I have found that accept direct credit card payment only ship domestically within their country)
c) is reputable (not celluloco.com type sites that ship you a phone programmed in chinese or some other language which you then have to unlock)
d) and is affordable.
I tried expansys in the UK who would only take my order as a wire transfer to their bank account which after the exchange rate would make the pheon cost nearly $2500 for me. Ideally I was hoping for a site in Australia or New Zealand that took direct credit card payment and shipped internationally as they are close by but alas I haven't found any.
I realise this diatribe is a novella in the making however I could think of nowhere else to ask and am therefore requesting your learned advice and/or suggestions on this matter as I am VERY keen to purchase this phone. As an aside I have already successfully ordered and paid for a Nextlink Bluespoon Panther Edition from from Danish Nextlink distributor Pilkon.dk, who incidentally DO accept direct credit card payment and DO ship by international courier (DHL) to my country.
