Scratched the flash, not the lens - big deal?

I am not a photographer and I can't tell whether my phone's camera quality got worse since I scratched the flash. I was trying to apply the tape fix for lens scratches and didn't insert the end of the spring back in properly. I ended up having my a nice DEEP scratch across the flash part of the camera.

I know having scratches across the lens itself affected the photos (especially with flash on) but what about a scratch on the flash part and not the lens? Does that make a difference? Does it distort light?

Please see if you can notice any distortions:

EDIT: I was also wondering whether those glasses/lens scratching paste solutions would work to remove the scratch...

i've found that scratches between actual lens & LEDs have been more detrimental to quality due to the effects on flash diffusion (i.e. big washed out strip down one side of all flash photos). but it seems to be the luck of the draw

scratches accross the lens itself tend to cause some slight "soft focus" effects, but since they're too close to the lens to be focused on they're marginally less horrific

Really? I can't tell the difference. I took all kinds of shots with lights on and off, flash on and off, etc. My scratch, btw, is WAY WAY deeper, thicker than your usual N97 scratches. My scratch was done not by the cover, but by the end of the spring (wire) so the damage was pretty insane...

Can you see any obvious distortions? I also took pics of my white walls with light off but with flash on. That showed me how my light was distributed when I used my flash and I didn't notice anything that would stand out... it was pretty even all around...

BTW, any idea where N97 has its download folder? Like the apps I download from Ovi Store - to where do .sis/.sisx files get downloaded???
