Today I went to The Phone House in the "Arenas Comercial Center" in Las Palmas with my N97. I told the guy that the GPS was not working too well and in seconds he had it in bits. I told him that I had tried the copper wire fix so that he knew I had been buggering about with it, and I said that I did not expect a warranty fix. He messed around a bit and said, try it now - it probably will not be any better and I will order a new antenna. I will call you when it arrives and will change it for you in 10 minutes. He also said he would do it under warranty!
