Does anyone have the Nokia Photo Browser set up on the N97.

1. Does the phone automatically (or can you set it to default) use this software to browse through the photos or do you have to run the application first.

2. Does it overwrite the default app that the phone currently uses to display photos

thanks in advance

In my experience of using the software:

1 - No, you have to run the application then browse through the photo;s its not he default application, and didn't look to see it the settings could change it into default.

2 - No, the default browser is still there in the main menu, and to be honest, I prefer the default.

I have been using Nokia's Photo Browser since I first got my N97 (RM-507) and it is one of the more impressive programs (kinetic scrolling with simulated 3D perspective, magnifying glass effect and facial recognition zoom).

1. You have to run the application to make it work.

2. It peacefully coexists with the regular Photos application so you don't have to give anything up.

Each time you start the application, it goes through the memory of your N97 and looks for images, it may take a little while but they will finally update to the "wall".

I did find a bug though...if you try to open a very, very large image the application will crash and exit.

I had loaded a high-resolution test pattern image into my N97 and found that while the Photo Browser made and displayed a thumbnail of the image, it was not able to open the image without crashing (92 MB).

The regular Photos application was able to open the image without any difficulty, though.

hi if you want the photo browser to be your default appl for pic then go to phone-appl settings- and activate photo browser as your standard. Then it will start if you click a picture! You still can use the normal picture viewer also

My phone has a glitch, it only has the defaults, I can't choose anything else :-P

My N97 also only show one application "Image viewer" available for selection in

Settings->Phone->Application sett.->Default apps.->Viewing images

Evidently the Photo Browser doesn't register the extensions that it can process with the OS.

I have to say... i love the Nokia Photo Browser, however there is a few things that annoy me...

1. it loads all the images on your phone (is there a way to set it to only open a certain Photo Album (or folder)
2. there is no exit button which makes it feel a little unfinished

thanks to anyone who has answers to the above...

There is. When viewing all the photos, press and hold on one of the pictures and you'll get a little menu up, including ordering settings, send via mms/email/bluetooth/ovi/upload and, more importantly, Exit.

This is also one of the more well-behaved applications which cleanly exits if you press the red end-call button.

This can get annoying if you accidently press this button while passing the phone back and forth to let people see the display.
