I really want to get this firmware upgrade for my phone, but I can't afford to get it done.
However, I can get it done for free if there is a fault with the phone. So I've been trying to exploit the 3.12 firmware bug, and fill the phone so full it won't start. But all I've managed to do so far is massively slow the phone down 😞
Can anyone suggest some sort of system file I could delete to make the phone die?
Whereabouts are you in the World? it should be free to upgrade anywhere as it is a fault with the phone covered by Nokia's Warranty. Anyways, from recent expereience, check your current memory, then get a Video app and keep recording lots of Videos, approx 100kb per go until it won't record anymore, then take the battery out and restart your phone, it should start but not well and come up with the "Memory Full" error, then you got an excuse when you goto a NSC, seems a crazy way to do get a free upgrade though!!
evobit I wouldn't do what you're trying to do :crazyeyes: because you could end up in need for your phone to be sent to a regional service point, and leaving the phone in nokia's hands for quite some time :cry:
and, as space said, they should do it. full stop. no matter if the problem already arose, they should just do it to PREVENT that problem :evil:

I think I've managed it, the phone won't start up at all now, and if it gets past the blank white screen it goes 'memory full' haha..
The NSC wouldn't upgrade me for free unless I could prove there was a problem with the phone 😊
I didn't know the 3.12 bug was considered warrantable.. oh well 😊
I'm gonna head down the road to the NSC now 😊

Couldn't get it to the NSC yesterday as I didn't have my reciept with me.
Took the phone in this morning, and left it with them. Just got a call and they told me 'we don't have a firmware upgrade we'll just flash it to the same version'.
Well let me tell you I went off my tit at them, bastards told me when I rang up a month ago they could download 4.37!!! They left me with a lame 'we'll sort it out'
GRRRRR if they flash it back to 3.12 I'm gonna be VERY pissed!@#$!@#$@#
download the up 2 date version off of the net and take in to them on a cd

Hey man, i hate to tell you this, but after all that, you could of had it done for free. I've sent in my 7650 for a firmware upgrade, which CarphoneWarehouse in Richmond (my locan NsC), are doing for free. Its still under warrenty too, so i'm getting the slider fixed too! 😃
I hate to tell you this dude, but I live on the other side of the world and things are a little different 😊 Firmware upgrades cost me $30 (10 ukp) unless there is a fault with the phone.
However I will be getting the slider and keypad issues I have sorted before the end of the warranty.

Nah, nobody could help me out with downloading myself, I just hassled the NSC until they downloaded me the latest upgrade.
