Free P800...!

9 replies · 2,492 views · Started 10 March 2003

At scancom.co.uk I seemingly just ordered a new P800 for nothing!

There must be a catch... I have not given any ccard details as no payment was required! I didn't even choose a contract!

I await the postman with interest... but I am not holding my breath!

I also tried for a laugh, pretty funny by all means, it even says at the bottm of the invoice *No Payment Required* 😃

Thank you for your order.
You can print this form as your confirmation
😃

I'm sure it's not legaly binding, hey if they are handing out free P800's i'm game 😉

Hmm, they do say at the bottom of the description:

Place your order. Pricing will be available soon. Please note that is is pre porder only

So, I guess you should expect a phone call soon enough, asking which talk plan you want to go on...

Andy

God, why did i even bother?! 😊

Yes, i've just 'purchased' a P800 for nothing too, i know i won't get one, i know i probably won't even get an email apology from them for their pricing error. Ah well, at least they don't have my CC details!

LOL, if they phone me up and ask which talkplan i want to be on with my free P800, i'll be telling them OVP Virgin... 😉
... and then they'll advise you of the price. 😉
LOL, true. Then i'll tell them 'One P800 is more than sufficient for any man, and I am no exception' and then hang up 😉

Hi there

I was just browsing the web looking for some bigger Duo Memory Sticks for my new P800 and i came accross this forum.

Regarding the prev thread its hard to find unbelivable offers like this one, P800 for 0.99c or free. If the offer sounds too good to be true its probably just a scam (unless its something like Kodac Digi-Cam Offer for 99GBP)

I bought my P800 on orange contract 2 weeks ago and i have to say i realy satisfied with the perfomance. There is so much you can do to keep you busy for hours. Play mp3's, video's in MPEG-4, take photos 640x480, make, adit (on PC) wallpapers, read Ms Word, Powerpoint,Excel docs on P800. Honestly, its a GR8 deal.

The only thing which is kinda dissapoining is the incl. memory stick capacity. It comes with 16 MB but its too small. You can make a music collection on 16MB. That's why i am looking for more memory. I have read press releases about new larger capacity sticks due for lauch in March/April and i have come across one webite which sells them but its also too GOOD to be TRUE. 128 MB MG Memory Stick Duo for 110 GBP. Tell me what do you think? --> http://www.avland.co.uk/sony/msgm128/index.htm

And for you out there, i have come across few web sites that we may use to create/encode/decode MPEG-4 files to play on your P800's.
http://www.virtualdub.org/ and http://www.mpegable.com/showPage.php?SITE=mpegable&PAGE=mpegableavi

My mission is take a wholle MATRIX DVD, decode it to MPEG, that resize pixels and encode to MPEG-4. Imagine, watching a whole 1,5 hr movie on your phone - P800. Impossible some may say, well with 128 Mb stick its more of reality. I am waiting for prices to drop than i am going for it 😊
Wicked....

AVland is a good dealer, just on their website a little early really, they don't and won't have any in stock until they are released (March/April) time, your best bet is to get a 64mb from www.expansys.com as SonyStyle are out of stock.
