Password Protect

Hi, is there anyway to password protect your n97. I mean is there anyway to put a code on your phone so that if someone picks your phone up, they will have to enter a code before they can use it.

If some stranger picked up my phone, they would have full access to a lot of my personal information... such as work email, personal email, facebook, contacts etc

Is there any option to do this on the n97 or do i have to download third party software, if so ha anyone experience any decent apps that provide this function, thanks in advance

Try this:-

Menu > Settings > Phone > Phone mgmt. > Security settings > Lock code (default is 12345)

Cool, thanks... however 2 problems with this function:

1. you have to set a time for the lock to kick in (minimum of 1 minute)

2. there is no short cut to lock the phone, without having to press the power button once and then scrolling all the way down to the bottom of the list

Any advice on the above, thanks again for the reply...

What about using the side slider lock?

Just tried this out of curiosity, and to be fair, its a pretty quick and swift process to the lock the phone. THe first option is to lock the keys and screen, but the last option does indeed lock up the entire phone and needs the code to unlock.

I guess you want something that just kicks in automatically after a few seconds on non use?

Not really, i am surprised that there is not an option in the settings to lock (as in password protect) the phone when you slide the slider... it just seems like hard work to have to press the power button and scroll down to the bottom (it requires 2 hands) where as the slider only requires the use of one hand... this is not me being lazy... just being practical when you are on the move or in a rush

thanks for the replies

hi, you could try myKeyLock

it's actively under improvement, and you can have various kinds of locking mechanisms, even an alarm. may or may not be what you're looking for, but worth a try

it also has a 'slide' to unlock, meaning move your fingers in a pre-arranged pattern around the screen to unlock the phone
