Gmail Notification

Hi, i have been using the gmail for mobile app for the last few years and i am surprised that there is still no sound notification for new email as of yet... (i know you get the phone to vibrate but there is no sound notification) does anyone have any sort of plugin to get sound notifications in the gmail mobile app or some sort of icon on the screen when it is running in the background... thanks in advance

Not sure about the app, but if you use the built in N97 email app to manage your Gmail you will get notifications, plus other beneifts such as access to your folders.

Yes, but the problem i have here is that i have 3 different gmail accounts for 3 completely separate businesses which i need to access to every few minutes while i am out of the office.

(forwarding all emails to one address is not an option)

i am surprised that google haven't built this in yet - surely i am only 1 of 1000's who have inquired about this, thanks for the reply

Hi... Even I am looking for what you are looking for. In fact we should be able to set the time like the application should connect the Gmail server to check new mails after 3 minutes or 5 minutes or whatever. Hope Gmail create something like it. At least a sound notification. I tried Fring but in it everything is there except what i wanted.

Hi

The default app will collect different email addresses and keep them separate I have gmail hotmail and yahoomail all coming in, and I'm sure it would just be a case of gmail 1 gmail 2 gmail 3.

Profimail can handle multiple google accounts using imap (with and without push) or pop3, and it uses the phone's notification sounds to let you know when you have new mail.

This is why I am dying for multi Exchange account support either from MFE or from Roadsync. I want to sync my work stuff and my personal Gmail account stuff with the phone but be able to reply separately etc.

pkidza, have you tried emoze, or system7?

roadsync is flawless, i was using it since day 1 i got my 97, but lack of supoprt for other kinds email accounts is not good (or even multiple exchange accounts!)

emoze is not too bad, but fonts are HUGE at normal, and unreadable when set to Small (i get [][][][][][] as words)

S7 is halfway in between, they now have an IM client integrated in the beta software, but you will need the QT framework (eats 11MB of C space) and S7 works only if messages are on the C drive. not to mention, their exchange connection is spotty, i tend to not get email at all for a couple of days a month.

only grips is that i wish the 97 had separate widgets for the separate email accounts....
