Remote Phone Locking

Just found a feature on my phone which I didn't know I had... remote phone locking.

Send your phone a text with a code of your choosing and it locks itself!

Pretty cool if it gets lost or stolen. I didn't even know it was there.

Is this new in V12?

It works if-and-only-if they don't remove your SIM card to use their own, so you'd have to do it immediately after they took your phone.

Not exactly...my Nokia 9300 PDA/Smartphone will not make calls without a SIM card, but all the PDA functions are still available.

Besides, all the thief has to do is insert their own SIM card and they have a bright shiny new N97 working on a different number.

To make the phone stop working (as a phone) with any SIM card, you need to call your operator and report the IMEI as being stolen.

The phone will still work as a PDA.

** back to your original question if this was a new v12 feature--NO..it is in many phones. Even my three-year-old Nokia 9300 had this feature.

That's what I was talking about obviously.

Can't say I've seen remote locking before, maybe wasn't looking hard enough... but I like it.

once youve used this it will lock your memory card with the same password

if you use this and a lock code with lock on sim swap and a pin code then your phone will be pretty protected untill you get to report it
