Problem with N97 screen and keyboard

Hi, I recently traded an iPhone 3GS for an N97 from a friend. My previous phone was a N95, and it was the best phone I had, but I missed the keyboard and touch screen from my Palm Treo.

I had the N95 for more than a year an a half, and it felt old in my hands, and that's why I decided to trade it for the iPhone 3GS, but big mistake it was. The iPhone definitely wasn't made for me. The lack of multitasking, pretty apps but pretty useless, lack of flash, etc, etc, etc, just wasn't for me; so a friend of mine heard my disappointments with the iPhone and he offered me to trade his wife's two months old N97, for my iPhone 3GS, plus $200 cash. I accepted the trade very happy, because I was in Nokia territory again.

So far, it's being nice having the N97, despite the ram problems, and the camera flash (it's too white), but now I have a problem that its a little bit concerning.

I've had my N97 for 3 weeks now, and I have serious problems with the screen, appearing blank when I open the keyboard. I don't know if this is a software related problem, because of the low ram (I always have between 25-30 Mbs of ram), or if it's a hardware related problem.

Most of the time, the screen goes blank, and nothing appears, except for some kind of color lines in the back light-less screen, and this only happens when I try to use the keyboard. I'm not sure if the sensors has something to do with it, or what else could be happening.

It fixes by itself when it close the keyboard, and try to open it again, and the rotating screen helps, but right now, I can't get the screen to work with the keyboard open while trying to use the calendar.

Do you suffer from the same problem as I do? Please help, I don't know what to do, except waiting for the new firmware to come.

Thanks for your advice.

Hi, the firmware version is 12.2. The screen doesn't work anymore. Every time I open the keyboard the screen goes blank with nothing on it, it even has on back light or data.

Yes, it's the hardware, i think the ribbon that connects the screen with the keyboard is not working properly.
