Sometime like when driving it woud be nice to recieved a call using the speakerphone, is there an option for this? Like when the call is coming in we could press a button to activate the speakerphone or just simply flip the phone open?
Handsfree Speakerphone while flip closed
All you have to do IS open the flip!
good luck hearing the conversation unless you have a sound proof car running on clean air!
If you don't want to open the flip to use the speakerphone just press the option button and 7. This will activate the speakerphone.

Good find.. Blew past that mention in the manual somehow. But what the hell were they thinking about with the speakerphone feature? Audio files play great and loud through the speakers, but voice transmission or too low. It sounds like a OS client telephony problem which could be fixed through a firmware.
I am not sure. But is it always consistent with the speakerphone activation ?
If I receive a call when the flip is open, it does not activate speakerphone, except after receiving the call and open the flip.
Amir you're right, it's designed that way and it does say so in the manual. All oyu have to do is either hit the speaker button and select speakerphone or close and open the flip while the call is going on. this will connect the speakerphone again.
Some peple or in some places you might not want speakerphone. Let's say you're playing a game or browsing the internet and somebody calls. If oyu don't want to close the flip (or the flip is Off) you may not want a public conversation. That's why the phone doesn't assume and gives you the privacy option first.
I like it, it would get on my nerves the other way around. 😉

You have 2 volume settings...
1. multimedia
2. phone
Try spinning the jogdial when you are in converstaion... you will be able to adjust the vol
Which one is the option button? Do you mean the menu button(beside the clear button)? If son when a call is coming and I press the menu button there are only 3 options:
1. Answer
2. Send Busy
3. Menu
Which button do you mean? If its the ok button it just answers right away 😞
Do you mean the Jog Dial?
The option button is the one with the image of a menu(ish) on it, above and to the right of the 'c' key on the flip. And on mine at least it's option then 5, not option then 7..
This doesn't solve the inital posts problem though, because I have it too. Essentially, what you want to be able to do is set the speakerphone to be the default, rather than having to pick up the phone, press option, then press 5. Better not to have to while driving and in fact it'll be illegal to do soon if it isn't now.
ideally, you should have a 'speakerphone mode' you can switch the phone into. In that mode it will respond to magic word commands and function as a speakerphone straight away, so you can answer a call without having to pick the phone up at all.
Of course, a BT headset is an answer to this problem, but that's an extra 100 quid or so....
Do you press option then 5 when your phone is ringing? Nothing happens,Again while the phone is ringing I only have 3 opyions when I press options and pressing 5 nothing will happen. If I press it before a call or actually at anytime the application list pops up.
Nope, you still have to answer the phone normally. So the sequence is
1 - answer call
Option - bring up menu
5 - activate speakerphone
You can also use 'push away' (i.e. towards the back of the phone) on the jog dial rather than the option key. Or just open the flip. But then the problem is the phone won't lie flat with the speaker/microphone 'face up'. It's all a bit clumsy really. Much better to have one of the jogdial 'clicks' (say) switch between speakerphone and not in flip closed mode before you have to asnwer a call.
I dont get it!Do we all have different softares? When I am in a call then I press menu then 5, all it does is mute my phone and not transfer to speaker phone mode! Same withe the jog dial then 5.
Geeeez!!! I found it! Its Menu 8 on my phone! Again, do we have different softwares???
actually there many interesting options accessible via this option button as documented on pg. 43&44.
these options can also selected by the jog-dial instead of 'number' like 7.
but, i think it is faster to open the flip to switch on the speaker phone.
Probably because of different firmware versions.
My firmware version is R1D for the phone so my menu uses 7 for speakerphone. But i find it best to flip open.
Carkit is best option if you want to have it answer automatically using speakerphone when you answer the phone. You just need to press one button. The answer button.
Bluetooth is another option. It will take you two steps. One to wear your bluetooth headset (if you're not wearing it yet). Two is to press the answer button.
3rd option is the cheapest. You would only have to find a phone holder for your car wherein you can see your phone and flip it open without any problem. Takes two steps too. One to answer the call and Two to open the flip.
