This is cool. JustYak can support Mobile Instant Messaging for ICQ, MSN & Yahoo, re: www.justyak.com

There is a version of JustYak Chat software for 3650 re www.justyak.com

A quick summary of JustYak from their web site www.justyak.com:
- J2ME client on Java-enabled phone via GPRS
- Supports Motorola, Nokia, Siemens, Sony Ericsson, Samsung java phone.
- Phone to phone messaging, PC to phone messaging (ICQ, MSN, Yahoo)
- NOT wap, No refreshing needed to check messaging
- Instant, faster than SMS
- Online status of buddies (automatic)
- Chat rooms

CNET has a current article on JustYak:

A Comparison between JustYak (www.justyak.com) and TipicME (www.tipic.com)

Have just download Tipic IM ver 1.2 beta on 7650 and tested it. I think
tipicME features like register new user, add/delete buddy, set icq, yahoo, etc all need
to be done by PC client. I even cannot exit the app. JustYak done everything on the phone , much better approach.

It is currently size is around 90Kbytes, much bigger than JustYak 65Kb, waste of precious memory.

that is the worst attempt I have seen at a screenshot for a program!! its not even convincing!! they should at least take it whilst its running on the phone! not do a mock up screenshot!, looks like someone trained a monkey to use ms paint!

Just joined this forum and interested to see so many comparisons between TipicME and JustYak. I don't work for any of them so let's be fair here, download and test both... If you are really using tipicME for a LONG time then I admire how you can tolerate the connection. May be you have a special version that connects automatically (a secret beta version that is not available to the poor non-employees!) 😉

@chatterbox, you are very compromised now...
@scarborough, you made the same post in every topics. And chatterbox post a message after you, to enforce what are you telling. Are you in touch with the people who made JustYak? Are you the same person?
scarborough have 13 post, every regarding comparing JustYak and TipicME: http://www.allaboutsymbian.com/phpBB2/search.php?search_author=scarborough
Also for chatterbox, just 4 posts which tell "TipicME fu*k, JustYak is better". Please, be careful.
I'm the developer of TipicME, but I don't go in every forum telling "TipicME is good, JustYak is poor". I'm here to make support, to ear suggestion, to watch what is working and what not, not to tell how is ugly JustYak.
Please, respect the work of other people.
Now, I will report your post to the admins; probably, the moderators will discover scarborough and chatterbox use the same IP...

Regards,

Gino

I don't have any connection problems. Obviously its not an issue with TipicME but your operator (or possibly handset). You'll get the same problems on all such connections if so.

yes there have been quite a few comparisons but from the same person. I'd wait to hear a few other opinions first 😉

I don't work for JustYak nor Tipic, nor I am Chatterbox, moderator please check the IP if necessary.
I do like to see more posting from the developer of mobile IM here.
Can someone who have not posted here conduct a comparison of various services?

Well, I've tried TipicMe (older version) before, it worked fine, I had problems connecting at first, but after I reported it to them, it worked fine. No problem with the connection too.

JustYak, its pretty interesting, easier to get logged in you just have to use the app already. Using the app is fine as well. I like the feature of having the online on top of the list. I just don't like the message being overwritten when another message comes in. No chance to read. Is it not possible to just make a new folder in the messages, and put JustYak messages into it?

I have not tried TipicMe 1.2 yet. Maybe I'll give it a shot this afternoon.
