Andreas Garzotto has made to Personal Java programs for the Nokia 9500 available from his website. FTP 9500 is an FTP server for the 9500 and allows transfer of files to and from the Communicator via FTP via and connection (including WLAN). JPE is a simple text editor for text files and features unicode support. Both programs can be downloaded for free from his website.
I second Steve on the point that the N97 mini deserves another name(as from the phones show). Just the 'N97' tag has crippled the actual performer. I found the mini to be more stable and better designed than the original. Nokia guys could have loaded Eseries software and marketed it as E91 /E90i or something else. Also,a move like this would have made the debut of touchscreen devices in the business phone market.
I don't see a reason why the 'mini' is not a contender here.
I love my E90. Third phone in the communicator series I have had. I doesn't have as good photo resizing features as the predecessor but all in all, OK. However like all Nokia phones, after three years it is starting not to work too well. I need a replacement to which I can port all my stored data, which will have a full keyboard, internet features etc etc. The E90 would have sold really well if Nokia had ever bothered to promote it and everyone I meet travelling who has it loves it. Please Nokia, make an upgrade - you'd capture business from I-phone I am sure if you had a real up-grade with more features. Since it can replace a laptop for short trips, it doesn't have to be the smallest thing on the market. No matter what technology can do, human fingers don't get any smaller and need to be able to use a keyboard with some ease. The big screen is also a must.

Currently I'm using an E90, supplied by my insurer when my 9500 was deemed by them not to be economically repairable. I was given a choice of four phones, I can't rember which the others were but the E90 was the only one that looked like a replacement fr a 9500, although thre N97 had been launched it wasn't on the list. So I accepted the E90 afer 7 or 8 months I'm getting used to it.
I still yearn for a Psion 5 successor with a phone built-in. Potters Scientific Instruments Or Nothing was a true saying, David Potter decided to pull out of the hardware business Symbian has become a dumbed down shadow of EPOC and none of the physical devices have been as user friendly as the 5. Typing speeds are slower, integration between built-in applications is worse, whaever happened to the concept of "Data ". Despite Mr Lichfield being generally clear sighted about user's wants and needs, I think even he has become obsessed by the camera side of thngs, rather than software interation and the ability to have a "communicator" that replaces the need for a "filofax", a phne, and laptop. Lots of things we now get in phones are good but are just down to the shrinking size of the electronics. Some things have improved e.g. build quality and physical durability f the E90 is far superior to Psions 3 and 5 and Nokia 9500, but that doesn't excuse "Calendar" for being less capable than "Agenda" Rant over.

I had a 9300i for 2 years and now a E90 since December 2008
I found the little "joystick" on the 9300i a fantastic way to scroll documents and web pages, much faster and accurate than that 5 way button.
As for the keyboard, I am a decent typist on the computer, but I never got used to the E90 keyboard, while the 9300i one was very usable.
Other than the menu/shortcut keys on the 9300i, the main thing I really miss is copy and paste of text from web pages on the internal screen.
Or am I missing an easy way to do it?
