Hi All,
This is just a quick check to ensure that I'm not missing something obvious. It seems that Nokia have still to issue the iSync plugin to allow my N97 paperweight to sync with my calendar. It's been months since the N97 was released so how can it be taking them so long to do it?
At the moment I'm still having to use my N96 as I cant afford not to have all my contacts and appointments sync'd and with me all the time.
Please someone tell me that I'm wrong.
Thanks,
John
Unfortunately John, you are absolutely correct. At the moment there is no iSync plug in for the N97.
However, there is a solution. I asked this same question a few weeks ago. Basically all the sync functions can be done with Mail for Exchange.
There is a full set of instructions somewhere and I can dig them out or you could do a quick search using iSync N97 as the keywords, in this forum.
It all helps if you have a Google Account though, don't know if it will work with other similar services. You firstly sync the Mac Address Book with google, and also sync iCal with google calendar. Then set up MfE on the phone, and sync this with google. This in effect then syncs the phone with the Mac (via google ), as all three are now linked.
I set it up some time ago, and it all works quite smoothly.
nottmbantam,
I have tried previously setting it up to sync via google and the problem seems to be that I use entourage for my mail and contacts. With the N96 previously I have synced through iCal sucessfully but when I try this via google I find that anything that is synced back from google to iCal does not come in under the calendars tab, but rather a separate Google tab and this is not synced back to entourage.
If you have a solution for this I would love to hear about it?
Thanks,
John
Hmm, been thinking about this for the last day or two. Yes, I know I lead a sheltered life < note to self - get out more>.
If you have a look on Nokia discussions, there are a couple of threads on the N97 and getting it to work with iSync, which means buying a third party plug in software - can't rememeber the name of it now.
With my Mac, I can configure Apple Mail for use with Google, but prefer to view via the web these days, so don't use Entourage at all.
I remember a few years ago, I had a SE P900 and wanted to use iSync, but again, had to resort to the third party plug in to work with Entourage. This was called Go Between.
This is still around and although I think they specialise in Windows devices, they do still do a Symbian version, but the problem with this, is that I think it will only work with iSync supported devices, and as the N97 isn't iSync supported, we are back to square one.
I'll have a look around and see if there is anything else I can think of / discover. If you also come across anything, I'd be interested in hearing about it.
The problem is that the Sync system is royally broken in the N97 v11 and v12 firmware. Among other things. v20 is out this week though (allegedly) and should fix things - I'm expecting Nokia to formally release an iSync plug-in at the same time.

Thanks Steve, it would certainly make life a lot easier if iSync would work with the N97.
Any 'firm' news on the v20 release this week?
Steve - Now you've gone and raised my expectations for V20. I was not all that bothered about kinetic scrolling, but being able to pull my N97 off the subs bench and being able to retire my n96 would be something major. Well, for me at least.
Of course if it's not released I'll just be a shell of the man I am now.
