Syncing with OVI

My previous phone was an N95 where, in the phone sync application, there was an option to sync with Ovi. I could sync my calendar, messages, etc.

In the N97 the sync software only has the PC Suite profile. Is this correct?

When logging onto the OVI website and trying to sync there it says that my device is partially configured. There is an option to click to restore from OVI to my phone but not the other way around. Is this a common problem?

I did try a sync with Ovi, but to be honest, can't remember how I did it!

My main aim was to back up my contacts and went through the Ovi site, in the end it all worked all ok. I'll try to retrace my steps to remember what I did, but certainly all my contacts are now in Ovi too.

Sign into www.ovi.com with your Ovi username and password, select ether Contacts or Calendar from the top menu, and then click on Manage your devices in the top right.

In the pop-up box, choose your device (if you have multiple devices on your Ovi account) and then click on Send settings. The Ovi syncing settings will now be sent to your phone.

I know this because I did it only two days ago 😃

[EDIT] YAY! 1,000 POSTS! 😛cguru:

Tried to set up my ovi sync yesterday, it almost drove me crazy. I received the sms but got an error message that the message is a non supported format (something like that) and it only contained cryptic characters.

Did this happen to anyone else?

I know it took me a few attempts to get it to work properly, so hence why I couldn't quite rememebr the process I went through.

Congrats on the 1000 posts zxon!

Problem solved. Seemed to be a provider problem. Used my wife's SIM to get the sms, now everything is fine.

Strange thing: Already used the same SIM (mine) with an E71 and never had this problem. Seems to be a combination of my SIM and the N97 that caused the problem.
