Does anyone have this phone in the US? I live in Washington DC, and I have one on T-Mobile, and it doesn't work - the phone is locked up when it starts.
The phone boots up, but the keys don't do anything, and the screen and keypad NEVER go into screensaver mode which leads me to believe that the OS is locked instead of the keypad not working.
Of those that have this phone in the US, does anyone use T-Mobile?
Thanks,
Todd Wess
Im not having any issues with mine, Iv had it for 2 weeks now.
Dallas Texas, T-Mobile, with a 2 year old SIM. The phone works wonderfully, even MMS is working.

(Flashed to English) I king of like the markings on the keys, gives me something to talk about at the bar.
how new is your sim card, ive heard rumors that some of the newer t-mobile sims dont work with this phone. Hope this is not true.
Thanks, pritchaj for the info. I have tried this phone with a brand new SIM and with a SIM that is about a year old, and it still won't work.
I believe it is the Symbian OS that is getting locked up.
I bought it on eBay from a guy in Hong Kong. I sure hope he swaps it out for me. I don't know what to do with this thing if it is broken. Can they even repair these in the US?
The same exact thing happened to me!
I just demanded a replacement phone and sent it back.. let us know how things workout for you!
I contacted Nokia Repair, and they said they can fix it under warranty. I shipped it off to the repair center in Florida today next day air.
I'll keep y'all posted on how long it takes, and if it is fixed or not.
i think it depends on where your phone is from the asian models don't support the new tmobile sim. the uk versin will and the us version due out soon will of course.
I'm pretty sure it was the UK version. All the manuals were in english, the phone and keyboard are english, and it came with the UK adapter for charging. Version was 2.5 or whatever the latest on is.
Do you all think it's a UK phone or one of the converted asian ones?
there are two english ver out right now a central asian ver and the uk ver that just was released if you got it on ebay as i did it's a central asian ver most likely. the us ver is in testing i work for cingular and our sims work fine and our nokia rep had a test 3650 working on tmobile so you should be able to send it to nokia to get a firmware update for the us carriers. or just switch to cingular if it's in your area.
Hmmm, thanks for the info.
I just sent my phone to Nokia today, so I desparately hope they can get it working. Upgrade the firmware or whatever they need to do.
As far as switching to Cingular, I have a contract with T-Mobile so I'm afraid I'm stuck. I'm worried now. What if they can't get my phone to work here in the US?
the us versions do work on tmobile. as i said the nokia rep who we work with is testing the 3650 out and hers is on a tmobile sim. hers is the us version though. there is also going to be another change in the us version from what she said it may or will support 850mxz gsm as Att and Cingular both use this extensively throughout the Us. You will get the firmware update i'd suppose and it should work fine Nokia service is top notch.
I sure hope so! 😊 I mean, if I had a phone that was predisposed to be anti-T-Mobile, they would fix if for me, right??
I'll let you know how it works out..
My phone also locked up with a brand new t-mobile sim card. I tested it and with a couple other cards but decided to send it back to the guy I bought it from.
He got it and says it works fine!
I am from San Diego and he is in Seattle could this have to do with anything?
Where are you from with the locked up phone and have you heard from nokia since you sent your phone away?

This is comforting to hear. I was thinking of calling Nokia and asking them to upgrade the phone to the latest version of the OS, but I guess they would do that anyway, right? I'll let everyone know what the story is when it gets back.
