Hi guys,
im thinking to buy one of the above mobiles,
which one would you recommand and why?
Or just wait for a bit longer?
PS: my last phone is an HTC HD, the one before is E90 Communicator,
therefore I expect alot functions and apps in your choice.
Thanks
whatever you do dont get the N97, you will regret it, its a shit phone with a lot of hardware and software issues. wish i never bought this rubbish
really?
isn't that the v20 firmware improves N97 a lot?
dont get the n97 yet wait a nother month or two and youll get one with the new backplate hopefully
better gps reciever and newer camera dcover design
much better for you if you do also v20 should be alive on most handsets by then
i still wouldnt recomend the n97 to many problems for me
ive had bad ones out of the box , good ones that have gone bad and now iams elling mine as ive just bought the n86
top phone , great camera , stable , no messing about get it out of the box and it works , the camera is superb for a camera phone the quality optics really show ,the compression is still abit high for 8mp pictures though which is a bit of a shame
id recomend the n86 over the n97 mate only thing the n97 does well is the screen size and mass memory otherwise there are better phones out there but for memory its a beast
Samsung i8910 .. and SE Satio (I just bought one)
The N97 is having a similar life-cycle to the N95 .. the firmware wasn't good to start with .. quality varied .. if you got a good one (I did) then they just went and went (mine still does!) I'm hanging on to my N97 for now .. if the Satio isn't great I'll probably opt for the N900 ..
I'm getting the Satio for the camera ..
I mentioned the i8910 .. it looks nice but I've had a wee look in the forum and the folks who own them moan about lack of updates .. so I've decided not to go down the Samsung route .. even though they're highly innovative manufacturers.
iphone?😉 Will be getting one myself when I go HK end of the month and after playing with my mates one I can't wait to tell the truth. The OS and touch screen is so smooth, phone looks slick and the safari is the daddy!
Out of the ones you've mentioned I would have went for the N900... that phone is a beast... the only let down is it's non-portrait operational except for making phone calls.
I've the N97, and yes it's had its bugs, but since v11 and now v12 update is quite a stable and solid phone, definetly not as bad as what some have made the phone out to be.
If you buy now I'm sure you will get a decent one with v12 less the issues that older batch ones suffered from.
You have to remember that forums are a way of venting anger/ranting hence you're more likely to read about the bad stuff with the n97, than the good stuff.
touch pro2 if you want a hw keyboard, or touch hd2 for awesome real estate
for nokias, wait for the E72, or go with the 97 mini.
n900 hasn't been reviewed with production firmware yet, so there could be some changes..or not first impressions have left a lot of drool on the table though. but can you live with landscape view all the way? takes a lot getting used to, imo.
N900 for the win! It's a powerhouse of a phone, even though i love my N97 at the min and cant upgrade till June, part of me wants to buy the N900!
I'm waiting for the N900 to be in a few proper everyday used hands before I make my decision. Although the N97 is a good phone and thankfully I haven't been plagues with the amount of issues some people have here, I'd still hold off on it.
So if you can sit on your hands a little longer I think it will be worth it.
Thanks guys for all the professional opinions,
I've been reading reviews from everywhere about the N97,
on both good and bad side,
there are only 2 reasons really makes me buy the N97.
1st is i dont want to wait another month for the HD2 or X2 or others.
cause if you buy the top phone such late and if you want to change it to a even better one in the future, and want to sell it for a good price, then you have to buy it late, sell it soon, therefore you have onlt use it for a few months and i dont think its worth in that way, also i cant find a phone to stick with more than a year, so .....
2nd thing is the keyboard as i mention, HD 2 is in my choice list because it has multi-touch and large screen (4.3 INCH MATE!!!) so it should be fine without keyboard, and i was using the 1st HD as well, so i think HTC is good to stick with (only concern is the WM OS....)
SONY X2 was also my choice, but it just cant compete with N900, N97,
even it has keyboard and running WM OS, but still not impress enought and long awaiting time, so just drop it.
Back to the Nokia N97, has anyone upgraded it to the V20 firmware?
does it improve the N97 alot?
Also it appears there isnt much software for the N97/Symbian S60 5.0,
as i have visited many forums already and yet they just sharing the similar softwares......
can anyone answer my quries?
Thanks again guys!
wm 6.5 has some better UI experiences than 6.1. furthermore you can always flash your rom from xda-devs, they build many great roms there
v20 is not out yet for the 97 😊
there's tonnes of software for you out there for s60. likely if winmo has it, so does symbian, and vice versa.
symbian has profiles, now THAT's a big win in my books
how do i use my hacked 97?
i sync my calendar and contacts with outlook
whenever i have a meeting, my phone automatically goes to the silent profile <- Smartphoneware best profiles (sbp)
when its 1145pm, my phone auto switches to the Home profile, where only the family caller group has a tone, all the rest are silent (sbp)
i can schedule my profiles around my weekly routines all through SBP
symrdp, enough said about that in itself (wish i had it though!) 😊
alarms, tonnes of them
i have customised SMS tones for my caller groups and also individuals through AdvanceSMS -< this in itself is super awesome.
my phone reminds me if i have a missed call, unread sms <- total patrol
it also reminds me when my battery is low, or fully charged <- total patrol
i can keep track of my data quota (although i have unlimited data usage, its always nice to know what my sent/received is, and limit)<- data quota
extended functionalities through python
push email through RoadSync
Podcasting, YouTube, Streaming TV
twitter, facebook, MSN, skype
garmin navigation software
view my phone on my computer desktop, and run it off there <- RS60pro
use my phone as a wireless access point
puTTY, PNtools
qik
it all boils down to:
what are you looking to do with your phone? 😊
