Well the GPRS thing works great when you are in your own jurisdiction but if you can find someplace with a GPRS roaming arrangement (Fido and TMobile have one) it costs an arm and a leg to get your emails. In my case I do a lot of travelling...N. America, UK, Continent, Africa and M. East. As such it would be great to find a reliable dial-up that I could access from these areas that would work well from the p800. Anyone out there had any luck with dialups that have multi-country access? Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated.
dialup isp and p800- recommendations?
You could check out www.tigersurfer.com - I know it's my company, but this would give you 0845 access in the UK and then for 7.00 sterling per month you could get worldwide local number access through www.tigerroaming.com and the GRIC network.
I know it's a plug, but it is what I use...the last few weeks have been Japan, Germany and Canada...
Cheers!
I was having problems getting my dialup ISP (freeserve) connecting to the internet (call not answered message).
So I thought I would try Tigersurfer, as tigernet had got it working on his P800.
I was still getting the same problem with tigersurf (turned out to be a problem with my sim not having data enabled) BUT the amount of support and help I received from tigernet and his company was fantastic.
I will be using Tigersurfer for my dialup from my P800 in the future and would not hesitate to recommend them to anybody else.
Just for the record I do not work for Tigersurfer, just a satified customer.
