My N97 just died.

I have only had the phone about 2 weeks and a few minutes ago, my phone very quickly flashed up a message saying I had a missed call and then blanked.

It seems completely dead. I have removed the battery and replaced but it will not power on.

There was no missed call as I was sat next to phone when it happened.

I suppose my last hope is to do the vulcan death grip to try and resurect it.

How do I do that?

I am really sorry selecting this phone now, I have had countless lock ups, but this is the first time removing the battery has had no effect.

How long are you supposed to hold the buttons?

Nothing is happening to mine.

I wonder if it is anything to do with the fact I updated my Ovi s/w this afternoon.
Just noticed it occasionally comes to life with a white background and the word NOKIA and charging bars top right corner, just to show it is charging.

I can't get it to do anything else.

Why didn't I go for an Iphone or stick with my old N95? I must be stupid.

It's just come back to life on it's own.

I wonder for how long.

I hope v2.0 firmware comes soon and sorts this or I will be having very strong words with Vodafone with a view to changing my phone or even leaving them.

Hmm, as I am typing this, its going crazy. Powering up then down and up and down and so on.

Where's my hammer?

Surprised at you dog-man thought you were too smart umlike me to get caught by this dismal phone, what happened to the Tosh?

To be fair to myself my old phone went and although I wasn't that keen on N97 was best offering (I comically thought) on Voda at the time as all other offerings 2mths ago had major flaws - no 3.5m jack/no Wifi/no iphone on Voda at the time 😃 etc and really can't get on with WM. Regretted it almost instantly (I really can't believe it got out the door) and v sorry didn't get 5800 back in spring - thought this would be poshed up 5800 (don't care about the keyboard one way or another) but it's actually worse..........

Got lots new coming soon on Voda now (of course - too late for me 🙄 ) Samsung H1, Storm2, Bold 9700, iPhone, N97mini HTC Tattoo (with 3.5m jack unlike magic - if they'd carried Hero prolly would have gone for it) Typical eh :frown:

Tosh?

Nope!

Prior to this abysmal piece of junk, I had an N95 and before that I can't remember, but never any toshiba.

Pull the battery on your phone for about 30 seconds and then replace it.

Do not switch on yet.

Now use the three key press and then, whilst holding the three keys, power your phone on.

It should boot up in under 30 seconds.

It has just powered up and started properly on it's own.

I tested it by sending a text and it worked, although no reply to confirm yet.

I still have the hammer in my hand and am considering smashing the damn thing.

I never had any problems with my N95 and now regret upgrading. I still have the N95 and am seriously tempted to tell Vfone what to do with the N97 and their contract.

It died again but this time the vulcan death grip did bring it back to life.

I am restoring settings at this moment.

Let's hope so.

I don't think I any future mobile's of mine will be Nokia.

This one has really put me off.
