Music/Player/Playlists

Hi All,

I must be missing something, because controlling my music on this phone, should not be this difficult. At current I have a .m3u playlist i use with wmp at home, i sync this along with my entire music catalogue to my N97, it worked before, but now i've upgraded to Windows 7, i can't really remember how i got it to work. Even if i sync the music the playlist doesnt appear on the phone and even if i manually drag the .m3u file across it says it's corrupt

How do you maintain your music? I tried using Nokia Music and it only found 4 artists out of the 700 or so on there, seemed pretty useless..

I use mediamonkey to get all the correct album art and song names, then I load wmp and double check file names, images, etc.

There is an option to let wmp sort out your library for you which puts all the files and stuff in correct places.

When it appears right in wmp you can then sync or copy straight to card and all details should be fine.

Hi lasikie,

Thanks for replying, not really what i asked though, i can't be the only one to use this phone to listen to music, come on people, stop wondering about V20 and help me 😊

Sorry, hadn't long since got up when I posted that ><

Not attempted to use playlists as of yet, I'm too lazy to set them up.

Someone else needs to reply and tell me how they listen to the music on their freakin phone.

Well i either buy mp3's off amazon or i rip my own cd's to the computer and then i load them up using pc suite into music folder in mass memory and then i freakin listen to them. I never sync as i have some music that i want to keep on my computer but don't want on my phone. Then i'll create playlists on the phone if i feel like it 😊

There, still no freakin help, but i thought i would freakin answer 😃 😃

My preferred method is to use Nokia Music to upload all my stuff, although it can be occasionally flakey. asically, if I have MP3's, I'll check the tags using MP3Tag and then dump them into My Music folder where Nokia Music sees them and it's just a case of drag an drop onto the phone. If it's a CD, I'll use Nokia Music to tag and rip it directly to the phone.

Seems to work well for me.

As for playback, I don't bother with playlists to be totally honest as my listening habits are quite random, so I usually end up just selecting tracks on the fly.

I also use Media Monkey to sync playlists to my 5800. Much better than either WMP or iTunes and free (though I ended up paying for it as I wanted the advanced featuures). Does a great job, auto detects and is cmpatible with Symbian phones.

Thanks for replying all, (and your most humorous reply Angie!)

Guess i thought most people had a playlist, will give media monkey a go!

I listen to the 4.2 GB of music on my N97 with my BH-905 BT noise-cancelling headphones.

I don't have playlists, I just use Shuffle and then if I don't like a song, I'll tap the >> button on the headset and see if I like the next one.

I get tired of the same music over-and-over again, so I generally don't do playlists--on my N97, on my iPod nano or on my PC.

About album art....(original question)...I take whatever comes over and don't agonize about having to see the album cover. I normally don't keep the Music Player screen alive to see that anyway as I'm usually doing something else while listening to music.

My original question wasn't about album art! I dont think i even mentioned it! However you did answer, so thanks!

I like having all my music on my phone as well as my PC, but i get a lot of album tracks or songs i'm not in the mood for, i'll skip 8 or 9 times before settling, playlists are good for ie rock, chill, friday night etc

Can i just jump in and ask, how do you take music from a cd and put it on your nokia music libary? i ried the obvious and it says it can not be imported from a cd/cd-rom etc. im sure i saw someone mention it? i asumed that you can with itunes why not with nokia music?
